Stopped for coffee and cake on a Sunday. Very busy! Coffee wasn’t hot and cake wasn’t fresh. Staff very busy!(I suppose that’s why they weren’t so friendly) Overpriced for a “general store”!
It’s rare to get a really good burger and this one was really good. The beetroot relish made it especially yummy. Coffee nice and staff welcoming and friendly.
I visited the Southern Highlands a few weeks ago and when I arrived in the small village of Exeter I went to the Exeter General Store. They have a variety of delicious food, including some good options for vegetarians (which I am). I had the...MASH burger and it was one of the best vegetarian burgers I've ever had. The atmosphere is cosy and cute and you can feel the community energy. The coffee is delicious and was my favourite coffee while in the Southern Highlands. I would highly reccomend this spot!More
Had not been for a while but loved the experience. Sat at a window table watching the world go by while eating great food with my family who were visiting from Europe.
Visited for lunch as hadn’t been before. Busy quaint little cafe. Food – eggs Benedict very nice, smashed avocado needed balsamic or some sort of dressing. $3.30 for one egg to be added seemed very high. Smoothies were almost $10 each and not large so...felt pretty overpriced. Overall good to try but too expensive for a repeat. Staff – the young guy on the counter was very nice as were the other staff.More
This is a small-medium cafe that works in its space - a semi-retired but still active post office oh so well. It's simple but classy decor, wall lined by excellent books for sale, intimate serving and cooking space making you part of the process are...the bees knees for vibe creation. And the food....OMG. I had fish tacos... perfectly crumbed and cooked flathead - tasty, crisp, melt in mouth supported by a simple but perfect slaw accented with an amazing pickle and perfectly balanced chipotle mayo. And the tortillas were fresh, crisp and soft all the same time. And for before, the very, very best coffee thickshake I have had in over half a decade of living. Go before you leave this mortal coil... and then go again - your life will not be complete otherwise, And the wall of books - quality authors, good condition, huge range and dirt cheap. Browsing while waiting for food is just dreamy.More
After a good walk at Fitzroy Falls, we went to Exeter for lunch. What a great surprise! I'm very picky with coffee and these guys impressed me really well. I also had one of the best soups ever! Lemon soup... goodness! Really great. Will definitelly...go there again soon.More

Excellent brunch and great coffee. Had beautiful smashed avocado and poached egg that was scrumptious.
Country atmosphere in a rustic venue. Nice lunch menu. Service was a little disappointing but food was fresh and tasty. A little pricey but would return.
I went here for a family lunch today and was absolutely applauded by the owners reaction when my Granddaughter couldn’t eat her hamburger because it was burnt and she said it tasted funny. His opinion was it’s not burnt its pan fried. Funny how 5...of us at the table considered it burnt but because he didn’t that was that and they through it in the bin. A waste of $10.00. I then asked for a vegimite and cheese sandwich and he wanted to charge me another $9.00 for that as apparently they have running expenses. I certainly would not recommend this place and will never return. I have never found a manager/ owner that wasn’t willing to work with a customer at all on an outcome it was just we have your money there is nothing you can do about it now. Appalling 👎More
Hi Karen, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your experience with us today. Given your review, I would like to take the opportunity to comment. When your raised the issue with one of our team members, you said your granddaughter "doesn't like it, she thinks it...More
This cafe in a general store and local post office offers a very limited range of dishes such as pies, quiches and salads for lunch with cakes, coffee, juices and milkshakes. It is an interesting location with some local produce and condiments for sale, a...book exchange and locals coming and going to the post office which is also inside the large and rambling building. The food was satisfactory and the service friendly and attentive.More
Thankyou for your review, however I'm not sure you had the opportunity to see our menu in addition to our display fridge, which is a full modern cafe offering of breakfasts and lunches, more than a dozen meals beyond gourmet pies and salads, such as...More
Today, I went to this lovely venue for my friend's birthday celebration. There were about 15 of us. We had to be seated on 2 different tables. The food was delicious, great ingredients and presentation. I had the chicken teriyaki burger. It was so delish,...marinated chicken breast, grilled pineapple, Swiss cheese and caramelized onions on a Turkish roll. The service was quick, friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this eatery, but bookings are essential. The decor and atmosphere was lovely.More
