Visited this area we were staying at Kimpton Aluna 30$ taxi ride to restaurant. Went with my family. Patricio was very attentive took care of our needs making sure we had water at all times. Made recommendations ended up having peruvian ceviche so good and prime rib empanada. They provided house appetizers free! Cheese bread and tortilla chips with 3 sauces. Dont fill up on the cheese bread if you plan to have dinner. We ordered 3 dishes shrimp risotto, steak risotto, and i forget what its called fall of the bone rib with some type of mole sauce everything was delicious! A bit pricy but definitely worth is. I live the customer service at this place. Patricio even escorted us to the bathroom! The restaurant is dimly lit but definitely a place where people get together and have fun!Bathroom was immaculately clean and beautiful I was impresses with the “rock sink” they even had listerine to freshen up! Thank you Patricio for making our dining experience excellent!!!

Celebrating my wife’s 50th birthday, we went to Rosa Negra with high hopes and these were more than fulfilled! The seafood-heavy menu is amazing, but there are plenty of great meaty options if not. The service was attentive - our servers Kiké and Alexis were really helpful and knowledgeable and took care of us well. The atmosphere is the most likely thing to be divisive - it’s fairly intense club music, with occasional interludes with bongo drums when we were there, but actually the volume was not too much and it contributed to a really lively feel to the whole evening. Overall, a fabulous evening!

This is the best dinner club in Tulum. Food: the star of the party was the salmon coconut ceviche. Staff: Abigail and Enrique were fantastic; very attentive and helpful. They thoroughly explained the menu, showed us pictures of the items, and they took great pics of us. Entertainment: the staff gives out sparklers throughout the night to everyone, people were on chairs dancing and in the front of the stage with the drum player. Lots of action from the comfort of your dining table. Cost: this place is on the pricey side for Mexico, unfortunately I think it’s typical for popular Tulum establishments. Our bill was $375 USD, that included tax and tip, 4 drinks, 2 apps, 2 entrees, 1 side, and 1 dessert. It’s well worth it and I will definitely go back the next time I’m in the area. Pro tip: Arrive early (7:30pm Friday night) to get a good seat in the main dining area where you can see each side of the restaurant and enjoy all the festivities.

Went to Rosa negra for dinner with my partner. Initially the vibe was good, loud music & people seemed to be having fun. However, I would say this is a place for those wanting to spend a lot of money or a large group of people. The place was full of influencers having videos and photos taken all night whilst pretending to dance and laugh inbetween meals. The waiters are a little much, constantly coming over and talking to you about the menu and not giving us time to actually read it. I asked for my salmon to be cooked well and it came out almost raw, which I had to send back- it came out still not well done. I ordered a starter and my partner did not want one- they turned my starter into one for 2 people without us asking to do so. Could not see what I was eating as it is super dark and very hot- they only had fans on the groups that were constantly buying bottles of alcohol. Definitely a place for people with money, it gives Mexican Ibiza vibes which is not for me personally. Food was a 6/10 considering the very high prices.

Extremely disappointed. Put our party of 7 on a 4 person table. We had this reservation for a month. The table was so small they were removing the appetizers before we could try it. We ordered an overpriced bottle of Don Julio, and we watched the waitress pour 2 shots on the ground before filling us up. Be careful if you get a different color plate than the entire restaurant. You’ll be treated like garbage!

I visited the restaurant with friends during my stay in Tulum, as it was highly recommended online. However, we were so disappointed, not only that the food was nothing short of average the staff was very rude. The loud music and the party vibes environment give the impression that this would be a great place to have dinner. I would think twice before making reservations. We felt rushed from the moment we arrived, and when my friend gave feedback that her steak was not cooked to her liking, the mood suddenly changed. The manager was extremely rude and dared to say. ‘ Well, you had a good time and enjoyed the performances. You are here!’ As if we were lucky enough to be there and shouldn't complain…I was shocked! This restaurant gives extremely arrogant vibes and is not worth a dime of anyone's time, let alone money, as it's overpriced (not to mention the overwhelming solicitation to buy drugs everytime you go to the toilet…)

If you want party vibes this is definitely the place to go however as a group and not a couple. It seems that all of the larger tables are placed in the middle where the entertainment is, I went with my husband and was placed as an outcast near the bar area, unable to see the dancers/ drummers. The night started well although we did have a waiter that seemed new, moving things on our table constantly. A group of women arrived for their dinner reservation early or perhaps didn’t make a booking and were told to wait at the bar until a table was ready. There must have been 8-10 people standing around our table whilst we were eating, constantly knocking in to my husband’s arm. I’m all for partying and enjoying yourself but respectfully of others. I mentioned to the waiter they were too close whilst we were trying to eat and he laughed. He didn’t ask the women to mind the table .. so I told him again. 5 minutes pass and nothing. A manager then comes over and decides to move our table to the side in the middle of us eating so we weren’t as close to the women. This actually just gave them more space to jump up and down/ dance and soon enough they found their way back to knocking in to my husband. I’ve been to many venues with this type of vibe and it’s by no means acceptable when you’re spending $300 on a meal to encounter this. They try to put on a show of good customer service but the reality of it is that they don’t have a clue and then when things go wrong they don’t how to deal with it. Our meal was nice however it was difficult to fully enjoy in the heat. They had two fans which weren’t turned on initially but then when new tables turned up they would move it towards them. Overall, quite disappointed.

Food was great and vibes were fun (too loud if you wanna talk), but what turned us off is the pressure-filled upselling. More appetizers. More sides. Sparkling water. More drinks. So pushy. At the end of the bill, they "mistakenly" put an item wrong and we got charged 1,000 pesos more ($60 usd). The waitress did not even act surprised, it seemed to me she looked guilty but not embarrassed. I pointed this out and told her to get us a new bill. Apparently the same experience happened to others, so you have to be careful and watch your bill closely here. I do not recommend.

Horrible experience. Do not go here. First of all, the menu is misleading. They have several menus for different locations, and it’s not Latin cuisine whatsoever. After looking at the menu extensively, we decided not to eat here. Since they didn’t offer many options kids or adults only seafood. The prices are very overpriced, and the portions are very small. They serve us water, but they don’t give it for free. I was okay with paying for the water, but after receiving the bill, I was charged $30 for four cups of basic water. Very unprofessional. I was willing to pay $15 for the water, but they insisted they don’t offer free water. I didn’t want to argue because we were on vacation, so I just paid the $30. I do not recommend eating here.

This would definitely be a fun place for a bachelorette party, but not for a romantic dinner. The food was great but extremely overpriced and there’s way too many staff members constantly hovering over your shoulders. At one point we had like 5 waiters just staring at us and as soon as we put our utensils down they would run over to clear our plates. A little too dramatic in my opinion. The live music and sparklers were fun, but being suggested to tip 20% at the end wasn’t, and we probably wouldn’t go back. It’s a fun one-time only experience, but one you can absolutely skip in Tulum unless you’re in a party mood.

We visited Rosa Negra this evening as the last dinner of our bachelorette party. We’ve been looking forward to this night all weekend and we now all agree that it was the worst restaurant experience we’ve ever had. First off, I will say the food is fine. My ribeye had great flavor and was tender but I can’t say it’s any better than a $30 steak at Texas Roadhouse. Others in our group had the tenderloin, fillet, and fillet with risotto. One steak was so horrible that it was sent back to the kitchen. Everyone else said their food was okay but probably not worth the price. But what really ruined the night was the atmosphere and the service. They first tried to squeeze our group of 9 at a table meant for six, seating us so close that our plates touched. They did move us to a new table. But the other tables were so close that those sitting on the corners were repeatedly elbowed by passing waiters - one even grabbed my friend around her waist to try and squeeze past. Orders were mixed up and 3 of the 9 people never had their entree order taken so had to wait for an extra 30 minutes. The music was so loud it was impossible to talk or enjoy the meal - you could barely think. And they took it upon themselves to add a pretty large tip to the bill, despite their mediocre service. Overall, I would not recommend Rosa Negra to anyone. It’s not a place where you can enjoy a dinner with friends because you can’t talk, they have 50% more tables than they should so even walking to the bathroom is difficult, the service is bad, and the food is mediocre. It was definitely not worth $100/person.

So... really was fascinated by this place..it has an amazing party atmosphere with the entire staff obviously enjoying themselves and having a great time but also providing great service and excellent food..we highly recommend the sea bass to share, the empanadas and the giant churro! One thing that could bother some people is one, that they try to push the expensive menu items on you, like the lobster and the Kobe steak for example! The other thing is it is pretty loud in there, so if you're looking for a romantic dinner might not be the first option to recommend.

Ari was very attentive and helped explain the items on the menu. Very friendly. Dinner took a total of about 1.5 hrs including apps, dinner and desert. Food was fast and music was lively- old school reggae and pop music mixed with edm. There were a lot of larger parties, weddings , bachelorettes, celebrations. It’s music is loud with a live dj so be prepared The food was good. Beets were very very good and the steak was perfectly cooked and tender. Enjoy!!

RosaNegra was as beautiful as I remembered it. A unique experience with an amazing restaurant / bar ambiance. But that's where the goodness ends. Once there be prepared for some sub par service; the necessity to take out a second mortgage on your house; & be hassled at every opportunity. The prices in this restaurant have gone beyond expensive to downright obscene ... and that transfers to any restaurant which are part of the RosaNegra Group, which are almost all of them in Tulum. Lower priced wines (min $70 USD for Josh Cabernet) are advertised, but conveniently unavailable when asked for. Only to be substituted for $170+ USD Mexican alternatives. Bar shots are minimum $32/oz for brands such as Makers Mark/Titos, as are glasses of wine ... not to mention the food is overpriced given the quality & slow service provided. The solicitation outside of the restaurant you experience in Tulum, does not stop once you enter. At RosaNegra, we were searched both body, purse & wallet prior to entering looking for weapons, drugs, etc. Only to go to the restroom later that evening to be asked at the door of the restroom, by what we can only assume are affiliated dealers, what our drug of choice was we wanted to buy. Very convenient to screen out competitive products in advance so you can sell your own product in-house. Overall the experience was sub-par, and as I said before, carried on through each of the RosaNegra Group restaurants we visited. We will not be back & will not recommend either RosaNegra or Tulum to our network of friends/family until the area & restaurants come back down to earth regarding their prices, food & service quality.

If you’re visiting Tulum, GO TO ROSA NEGRA. Such a beautiful space. The food portions were huge and at a great value! We had the chef recommended salmon, the beets, burrata and Boing salad. SO GOOD. Hazael and Junior were the sweetest! Super attentive to every detail. They truly understand hospitality. Their service was on another level. 100000% would recommend this place.
