It was better than 'average' but not quite 'very good' but there isn't a 'good' option. We ate here one evening and it was very busy so we were pleased we'd booked a table. The menu has the usual range of pub grub and also...More

We've eaten at this pub many times over the years and even enjoyed short stays here. A great location for many walks; consequently it's often overcrowded. Fortunately, when we visited yesterday, it was relatively quiet. Excellent beers available. Our food was wholesome, home-cooked and plentiful...More

Had been told by friends to eat here and possibly stay here. Couldn't get in to stay but had a delicious meal here (huge portions!). Friendly and efficient staff and a great atmosphere in the pub.

Only stopped for a drink, but it was very busy with walkers and dogs. Stick to the beers! It was clean and friendly.

We came here as a large group and had our own room on two evenings. The food was exceptional, the beer was great and the staff so friendly. I would definitely come here again, it is very popular but such a great place to eat...More

Went here for a family birthday with family of 11. For a large party the staff could not be more accommodating closing the small back bar for our use. The service, friendly staff and good pub food could not be better, making for a very...More

Went here for an evening meal yesterday. Atmosphere and staff are great however food was no better than 'acceptable'. Ordered the sea bass which was over cooked and dry. Came with boiled new potatoes and a simple salad. Underwhelming. Perhaps I should have stuck to...More

Good pub grub, good service, basic environment. We made a reservation in the dining room the previous day, and there was only one space/time left, and it was during the week, so if you want to eat in the dining room book early. We were...More

A busy afternoon evening service with a queue for the bar, BUT no matter because the bar staff new what they were doing. Food and drinks ordered and then served with great efficiency. The Lamb Henry was just perfect. Great selection of ales too.

They do allow dogs, but I think only in certain rooms. You would be best to contact them for details. I have only eaten there many times and they are dog friendly.
