Having tried to book on numerous occasions. We decided to go for an early supper. I ordered the Fish of the day, Turbot. Expectations were high but sorely disapppointed as I cut into the fish to find it wasn't cooked. The waitress took the fish...More

I had been a bit rude before about the hugely expensive pizzas at the pub but had a main course with friends and it was excellent. Not cheap but quality and service is very good.

As we were at the nearby site we gave the Richmond a try. First impressions were not good. The beer was extremely poor through uncleaned lines. The starter was awful ( Camembert). Our main courses were both really good (Brill and steak) and the best...More

We booked a table for 5 but found ourselves in the bar area rather than the restaurant. There was a table next door of extremely well oiled people making a great deal of noise. When they went out for a cigarette the staff had a...More

We were a party of nine and the seating was snug but worked. The service was excellent from arrival to us leaving, the waiting staff were knowledgeable and sociable without being too intrusive. Many had steaks which were cooked to everyone's liking and sourced locally!...More

Ticks all the boxes, fantastic atmosphere, super innovative food choices, friendly knowledgable service, really interesting natural wine selection, local beers all in a beautiful off the beaten track location. A bench mark and easily the best choice locally

An interesting restaurant. 4 of us dined on Friday evening in the less formal restaurant and enjoyed tapas and goat pizza. Fantastic food. The home made soft scoop apple crumble ice cream was very overpriced at £6.95. On Saturday night we ate in the main...More

An attractive pub with a varied and imaginative menu. Limited gluten-free menu - just a normal menu with gluten items crossed through. Otherwise, food very well presented. Parking limited and necessary to park on the narrow lane. BUT... very noisy from so many diners in...More

Whilst the food was good, we both felt that it was overpriced for what you could get in the area. However the reason why I am giving it a 2 star rating is because of the service. The service was extremely slow and had to...More

The roast beef was freshly cooked and very tender - not your usual dried out Sunday roast served in other establishments! For dessert I had a Mr Whippy, and it certainly had the wow factor - basically a rhubarb ice cream with slithers of rhubarb...More

to be honest I can't remember seeing one (it was dark). Great pub for a casual drink and eats is at The Royal Oak, just north of Chilgrove. Great atmosphere, real country pub down a winding lane!
