Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Returned once again to the Laughing Duck at the end of July.
Welcome always smiling and professional.
It is always a pleasure to eat their homemade food, this unique menu more than hearty that changes every day.
The soup pleasantly surprises young and old, the varied and hearty desserts are always very much awaited by children.
And all for an unbeatable price.

Lunch with family (9 including 4 children).
Soup, Starter, Main Course, Cheese, Dessert and 1/4 wine: hearty plates, fresh products, children's menu, all for a more than reasonable price!
Lots of people during the holidays but the service is efficient.
We will come back because the children love it! And U.S. too ...

Obnoxious welcome by a surly waitress, "we are full and even less with a dog." It's not forbidden to be polite, Madam, and I'm not even talking about being kind. Either way, a very noisy room that smelled of fat. We went to the brasserie de la poste in Retenou, pleasant room, friendly service, good menu at 18.50 euros. Everything is fine.

Very bad reception. It's 12:30.
The waitress says she's full. She doesn't like us very much. We came from far away. But she doesn't give a damn, she'll keep repeating. Yet places were available. The tone is unpleasant. It was a bad impression... we're not coming back.

Reunion with colleagues, what a pleasure to have shared this moment at Le Canard qui rit!!! Simply excellent in terms of welcome, service, setting and of course the daily menu. Everything here is homemade, it’s great. Unbeatable value for money. A big thank you for this moment. 👍👌

We went there for a patio lunch, arriving just at noon. The place was almost empty; but by 1pm was totally full. Lots of locals eat there. (Which sort of explains their hesitancy to seat us without a reservation--- so please be advised!) We had a FIVE-COURSE meal. Soup, salad, confit entree, fruit and cheese, and an excellent dessert. Washed down by three carafes of wine (for the three of us). An incredibly good value! Who cares if they don't speak much English! We loved it! Highly recommend!

The first time we tried to eat lunch there it was fully booked but the friendly staff made sure we got a table the next day. The restaurant was buzzing with contented customers including ouvriers who were restoring the castle of Castelnau nearby. We started with vegetable soup, followed by crudités, chicken, cheese and a large choice of desserts. The menu included a pichet of wine and was excellent value. What more could you wish for?

Fresh locals products, Soup served year-round .... The good real cooking done by the cook.
Infrequent are menus of this type and quality .
(Especially for the deserts, the cheese cakes are fabulous).
The owners are warm and very kind!
I recommend it to you

Close to Bretenoux and St Cere just below Castelnau in Lot this seems to be one of the few that's open on Saturday lunchtime with a menu of the day. Pleasant ambiance and excellent service. I didn't want the moules served as an entree so was offered a charcuterie instead. The Perigordin dessert was great. Was busy which usually equals worth going to and I saw that it is open Friday and Saturday nights which is unusual in this part of rural France and much welcomed by visitors like me.

You must visit this Restaurant, whether you are on holiday in the area or a local. The food is freshly prepared and always tastes great. There is a fixed price 4/5 course menu for 12 euros and is keenly visited by the Artisans - so that speaks for itself!! It opens on workday lunchtimes and has the occasional theme nights and Bank holiday specials. Alternative menu requirements are always catered for. The staff are very friendly and are English and French speaking. The Restaurant is situated in a quiet village with plenty of parking. You must try this one and will not be disappointed!

Mainly catering for the workday lunchtime trade this restaurant offers an excellent five course lunch which includes wine. If you can't eat what is on the menu that day, they can normally find an alternative. Occasionally open in the evenings for themed nights, e.g. Indian, fish and chips, Thai, etc. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Best to reserve as it is very popular. English and French spoken. Can be booked for events and private parties.
