Just returned from having a meal with family. First time we have been here and definitely won't be the last. Warm welcome by friendly staff on arrival and shown straight to our table, nice quiet spot in a corner. Excellent choices on the menu, I...and my son in law both had the Chicken,Ham and Leek Pie, my wife opted for the Fish and chips, while our daughter had the Garlic Chicken. This was served piping hot which is always a good sign. Food was delicious, and big portions as well.Desserts were excellent as well and again served hot. (Apart from the Ice Cream) Again, there was an excellent wine menu. Lovely decor and comfortable seating. Noticed that there is an outside area, with plenty of tables, which we intend to use when next spring and summer return. The waitress and waiter were very quick and polite. Would highly recommend this place. And the prices were very reasonable.More

I have visited the Kingsmead twice in three days for drinks only but after seeing the Roasts I will be back for food. Superb , friendly and helpful staff especially Tom and Abbie who made us feel very welcome. Very dog friendly with free treats....I do like Macs AK and I have to say it was superb so the cellar qualities were excellent.More

Stunning interior with a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The food is your usual McMullens fare but presentation is better that at your local. Great staff and value for money.

One of the most beautiful and scenic pubs in the Hertfordshire region. Sumptuous food and very friendly staff. Very grateful to Louis, who is an extremely friendly member of the bar staff who went beyond the call of duty to help me resolve some technical...issues regarding my new phone and it was a real pleasure to meet the owner, Julia who was extremely pleasant and professional. Would recommend the marinated olives. First class service in every sense.More

The ambiance and comfort is without a doubt first class and it is a pity the food is not up to the same standard. I had fish pie which was tasty but with little fish content and the vegetables were overcooked and tasteless. My wife...and a friend both had homemade pie and the pastry top was very hard. Same comments about vegetables. Other friend present were also unimpressed. We dine in many places and will not easily return to this venue.More

I dined here last night for the first time with my family of 4 and a toddler. We decided to eat inside as it was very hot out. The pub was very clean, light and airy with lots of space in between tables. We had...a lovely friendly waitress who was efficient and polite. Our food was delicious. I opted for the chicken and ham pie. I have to say it was full to the brim and extremely tasty as were the vegetables and chips. In fact we all ate something different and were very impressed with the quality and generous portions. 3 of us had a coffee and mini dessert again a good size and great value. I will definitely be returning in the near futureMore
