Happened upon this place while visiting family in the area. Must admit I wasn't expecting that much. It's in a bit of a rural backwater but a pretty area. 14th century looks a bit understated but a cosy warm welcome inside. Smart clean real fire. No odd smells. Good seating clean tables. Wifi. Good ale choice. Well kept and served.... More

We wanted to take my father out who is in a wheel chair to somewhere he could watch the rugby on TV, and rang the Union Inn. On the website they say that food is served from 6.30. I explained the circumstances. They arranged for a table directly in front of a TV screen and opened the kitchen and hour... More

We visited recently in a party of 8. Food and service was very pleasant but the service was far too slow. We had to go and find someone to take our order and the food didn't arrive for ages. I guess this was because of the size of our party. We will try going again in a smaller group and... More

Stopped for a very quick bite. Coffees and a starter which we shared of chicken liver pate as we were peckish. Coffees were - one half poured and the other very bitter. Chicken liver pate - when you know we are both going to share why not add the extra half piece of toast. 3 halves put on plate of... More

Absolutely delicious food in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. My steak and ale pie was overflowing with meat and was delicious and the puddings were fantastic as well.

Nice little village pub offering good home cooked food in a pleasant setting. Not much room in there so advised to book at busy times. If you're staying at Dornafield, its only a mile away down the track and easy to find. Good range of specials on the menu!

On Tuesday 30th August 2016, myself and friends went to lunch at the Union Inn Denbury. When we arrived we received a warm welcome from the landlord and landlady. We decided to have lunch and sat out on the green which is just in front of the pub. Two of us ordered the Fishermans Platter, the other person a Union... More

Tom and Axelle are pleased to welcome you at the Union Inn pub and eating house in Denbury near Newton Abbot and Totnes, a traditional 14th century inn overlooking the picturesque village green. The interior reflects a perfect balance between contemporary and traditional features, from the classic brown and cream décor to the glorious roaring log fires. The bar area has huge, comfy leather sofas where you can relax and enjoy one of the very popular lite bite dishes. The chef has produced a truly tempting range of evening and lunch menus for you to choose from, which change regularly according to the seasons, feature fish, game, meat and vegetarian dishes - all sourced locally where possible. There is an extensive selection of fine wines and real ales which have been carefully chosen to complement the food on offer. Alternatively, enjoy a cool drink or al fresco dining outside on the green, where there are tables and chairs the perfect place to enjoy a hot summers afternoon. With good food and and a great selection of real ales, the Union Inn restaurant at Denbury between Totnes and Newton Abbot is definitely a place worth visiting.
