Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is great!!! We stayed here on a Friday evening in late June, on a hot summer evening, booking a week in advance. We were asked if we liked the private room and we confirmed this choice. The village is already enchanting... mysterious, almost uninhabited, full of all kinds of handwritten messages on stones, wooden boards and more in every corner. Arrived we were greeted by the lady in elegant typical medieval clothing and made us sit in the private room, lovely. Everything is taken care of in every detail... but the real surprise were the dishes... nice and delicious. Each dish followed the seasonality and the raw materials came from the neighboring areas. Really good everything from appetizer to dessert. The lady suggested excellent wines to match the dishes. Finally it was a surprise to find out the bill... we would have expected to spend really more, considering food, location and exclusive service. We then met the cook, discovering that he was the husband of the nun who served us dinner, we showered them with compliments. This place is truly unique and we really recommend it to everyone to live a unique experience!

You do not arrive by chance in this restaurant located in the beautiful medieval village of Mombaldone; you are practically guests of a thirteenth-century house in one of the 3 rooms dedicated to catering. Interesting dishes with character accompanied by a few but valid labels. A special experience that at chef Umberto but deserves; excellent service of the lady in the room.

Furnishings, service and atmosphere take you, as clearly stated in the name, beyond the other options for restaurants, bars, taverns and taverns in the area. A reduced number of seats means that the place is very quiet and the owner's attention to all details is a valuable element. A good variety of courses (also interesting reinterpretations of Piedmontese and Ligurian cuisine) and a contained but valuable cellar complete an offer that is certainly worth a visit.

An experience to try especially as a couple but also among friends who like things outside the usual patterns. It's a shame there are only three rooms, but that's right, so too much crowding would spoil the atmosphere... as far as the food is concerned, it's quite simple, and since it's freshly prepared, the choice can't be huge. Brave managers, well done!!

Me and my friends came here two nights ago, upon recommendation of our AirBnB host Kurt - and we were blown away! Umberto and his wife were the most welcoming and charming hosts. They managed to make our night there really special. We received a delicious, (to our dietary preferences) customized tasting menu by the light of only one table candelabra. The atmosphere was enchanting, and we were completely absorbed in the mouth-watering delicacies served, as well as Umberto’s family history and stories about the place itself. The interior, complete with medieval furniture, dishes and decorations, was just as fascinating as the treats offered - all ingredients locally produced or even home grown. The price for this unique dining experience (and that’s what it was - a real experience! ;)) was more than fair, even on the lower side & absolutely worth it! A definite must-visit for all food enthusiasts and worshippers of the peculiar! ;))

This restaurant is so full of objects from the past, paintings, life size dolls, fabric on the walls, lots and lots of candles, beautiful room dividers, etc. The food is pure and very surprising. Very friendly staff.

We turned up Tuesday evening, thinking we had a reservation. Turned out that there was a misunderstanding, that our reservation was for Wednesday and that the restaurant was closed. The husband/wife, very kindly offered to open the restaurant for us (we were only 4), saying they would prepare a basic meal that would unfortunately not be quite up to standard. They proceeded to make us a delightful 5 course meal, with very good wine. It was not even expensive. The decor is most unusual and the town itself is worth a visit (if you have a large car, leave it before entering the town or you could loose your mirrors. I shall return

My wife and I were wandering through the narrow streets of this mountain town and quietly despairing that we were in the wrong place when needing a meal... How wrong we were, we followed this superb smell in the air to a quiet corner where we found a small building that was seemingly closed up but we wandered in anyway, and had a fantastic welcome from Umberto and Alessandra the owners of this brilliant little restaurant of which we were completely unaware We were ushered in to a private dining room uniquely decorated and in good English were told what was available for that day - without going in to great detail, we enjoyed a gastronomic journey, And discovered several unique dishes not the least of which was the Torino cheese sourced from Umberto's friend in the village, soaked for two days in local white wine and gently pan fried. This was followed by Ravioli filled with fish and garnished with anchovies, Potato Gnocchi made with a special hazelnut flour, chicken with a beautiful Moscato sauce and Caponata Calabria, all polished off delightfully with a bottle of Marchese Umberto deal Carrello Barbera red... Wow what a memory this will be for us!!!! Make sure you plan a visit !!!
