We (8 family member group) were not able to find any pure veg restaurant open on jan1st while traveling from Shillong to Guwahati. Even though we reached a little early in jiva, the manager Mr Sinha was very helpful in arranging the staff and chef to open the restaurant for us within 30 mins even though the staff had a late night shift on account of New year.
The vegetarian food was top quality and the service was amazing, courteous and fast. If you are ever traveling to Shillong from Guwahati this is the restaurant to be for delicious north and south cuisine. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

About 60 kms from Guwahati towards Shillong,this place is a paradise for vegetarian food. Beautifully crafted building with excellent interiors with spacious dining halls nicely furnished and with a clean and neat wash room facility. The exteriors are also done well with greenery and flowers all around. The service is excellent so also the food. They offer both north and south Indian dishes. We tried their Veg Jaipuri and rotis. The veg Jaipuri was delicious and rotis soft. Pricing also was found moderate going well with the ambience and quality of food. The restaurant has ample car park.
This is indeed a good place for those looking for class dining and veg food while driving between Shillong and Guwahati. Would definitely love to visit this place again.

Whenever you visit 🏞️Meghalaya, you will get down at Guwahati Airport and then start towards Shillong which is a 3 hrs Journey 🚘. On the way when you are Hungry Jiva Veg Restaurant 🏨 in Nongpoh, Meghalaya is the best option to take a break and eat #deliciousfood. It is located at approximately 1.5 hrs from Guwahati Airport 🛫. It serves delicious food of various cuisines and is Hygienic. Jain Food available but you have to guide them.

* A decent hotel meant for family dining, very clean and hygiene maintained.
* Serves all types of dishes including tandoori rotis and different variety of South Indian Dosas.
* Do not forget to visit their wash room. It's very clean, decorated with natural flowers.
* Excellent service rendered by ever smiling staffs.
* One of the best hotel I found enroute while travelling from Guwahati to West Jaintia.

We stopped at Jiva Veg on our way to Shillong from Guwahati. The ambience of the place is very good and the staff were quick in service. We tried their Veg steamed momos, veg Hakka noodles, chilli paneer, Dal fry and rumali roti all of which were delicious and very well prepared. A must visit if it’s on your way.

We stopped here for just coffee and ordered some to go food. Few points that made for a bad experience:
1. Charges are exorbitant for an instant coffee.
2. Service charge for just ordering coffee at the table, really? And they included the amount for parceled food to charge service charge, which is not right. Also, service charge is optional which may or may not go to the waiter so we generally prefer to tip directly because it's tax free money for the waiter. When asked for a refund, they refused saying we made online payment so cannot return. This is not acceptable.
3. For the 80/- they charged for the containers, they leaked in 5min. What did we pay for then?!

We had lunch at Jiva Veg twice, once after entering Meghalaya from Guwahati and once while going back. Both times we couldn't help but appreciate the food and service. Do try the Jiva Veg special Biryani, Garlic Naan and any of the Paneer curries. If I'm not mistaken they also take care of giving food to the drivers which is really welcome.

Enjoyed eating at Jiva Restaurant, food quality,taste and ambience is really good. It's quite reasonable as well. Manager DK Bariha is also very humble and nice person m.

Tucked away on the road from Guwahati to Shillong, this place has the most unsuspectingly tasty sambar and dosa. Idli can be given a miss.
The place is clean and was my first experience of what to expect in Shillong. The drivers were also given fresh breakfast as a toke. Of appreciation to bring patrons.

Nestled in an idyllic green space, this is the perfect pitstop for a quick bite enroute Shillong from Guwahati. They’ve got some great plants all around- very nice vibe to the place. Good food

It was a place we were planning to visit while going from Guwahati to shillong but missed by chance so decided to visit on return
The location, parking, washrooms, restaurant ambience, service, food quality and taste are superb...
All in the group were happy with whatever they ordered
I was a little sick so ordered plain dal and roti with lemon soda... And believe me these basic items also tasted very good (As good as home) .Highly recommended

Apart from pure vegetarian delicious food in a place of mix & exquisite location, got to experience the humble & honest staff.
Cleanliness in dining areas & washrooms is worth the applaud.
I'm pleased to have experienced goodness & honesty in a way world needs!
We visited here twice in our journey & on our way back home, l left my hand bag with wallet, IDs, cards, money & many more essentials in the dining area & got to know after we reached airport. Mr. Baruah helped me recover my money & bag by the best way possible with utmost honesty.
I'm pleased to have encountered the bad times at a good place, my husband has already elaborated about.
It's worth a visit.
Value for money.

I, along with my friends and families visited Assam and Meghalaya during Dec 2019. On our way from Guwahati to Shillong, we had our lunch in Jiva Veg. Though, being totally non-veg we loved the food there. We were 22 people altogether and tried different cuisines. Believe me, all of them exceeded our expectation. Further, the service was so good that we managed our lunch for such a big group within an hour. We were so amazed with the food here that while returning from Shillong we had our lunch here only. It has ample space for parking which is completely free of cost.
In addition to that, the cleanliness was worthy to be mentioned. The restaurant was neat and clean. The toilets can be compared with any star category hotels with respect to cleanliness.
I MUST RECOMMEND this restaurant if you pass by it.

One of the best vegetarian foods restaurants on the Shillong Gauhati highway. The methi malai paneer, dal tadka, mixed vegetable are really good. The portion are also vey good. Even the gulab jamun are also vey delicious.
But waiting time is quite long, it’s irritating. But overall excellent North Indian food on the highway.

we went to this place, whilst on our way to Shilong.
it had long waiting queue even at 2:45 pm. The hotel is very neat and clean
Toilets too are quite clean.
i was happy to see the variety of vegetarian food. Food was quite yummy, very tasty and excellent quality overall. Staff was quite efficient. it's a bit expensive but overall quite a good experience.
