It's been a pretty seamless takeover since the new management took over from the original team that set up Small Holdings as a delightful destination for breakfast, lunch and dinner in quaint little Malmsbury. Well done! No small feat to match the welcoming atmosphere, tasty food and value for money. The menu is small (I know I'm using that word... More

We dined here with family atmosphere was good, the menu and wine list small. Food was good nice place on a winters day with the fire burning and some comfort food.

Although a relaxed and unrushed service can be a pleasant change from the rush and pace of city restaurants there is a limit, and a one hour wait for service on a quiet day was very frustrating. There seemed to be a lack of urgency to provide table service and it was obvious our group were becoming quite irritated as... More

We always drop into Small Holdings when we get the chance for a meal or just a coffee. Friendly, friendly staff with passion, topped off with seriously good food, coffee or cake.

For my birthday last week I organised a "Mystery Tour" for a group of friends to Central Victoria, the destination being lunch at Small Holdings. David looked after us all so well, the table had been arranged beautifully, the food was generous and tasty and my friends were enchanted with the atmosphere he has created. Despite being a cold wet... More

We have been regulars to Small Holdings under the previous owners and the new owners, and both experiences have been wonderful! The new owners have tweaked things slightly which is great for me as there are several vegetarian things to choose from now, and they are all absolutely delicious! Knowing that the menu changes regularly will definitely keep us coming... More

Very olde world charm and a lovely menu selection. We had the salmon and the osso buco. Both above average and such a delightful setting. Wicked dessert and really good coffee finished the experience. We will visit again. Highly recommended.

We ordered smoked trout salad ($18)and a mushroom risotto ($19).The risotto was a soupy over-cooked rice pudding floating in liquid with slices of plastic cheese on top. The trout amounted to a cup of potatoes flecked with tiny pieces of trout. The salad had a nice flavour but it was the size of an appetiser.

Dropped in on their opening night. The food was fantastic and so was the service. Given the lack of kitchen space, the meal was simple but the taste is equivalent to high quality restaurant in Melbourne. Every dish was skillfully executed.
