Only came for a drink but the Specials Boards was full of interesting dishes and the Pork roast served to the next table looked lovely. Beers tried were Barnsley Bitter and Abbey dale Absolution 5.3%, the former was very good and the Absolution outstanding. Children and Dog friendly, served by pleasent staff and we'll informed Landlord. Well worth a visit.

Excellent lunch today- staff are friendly, the dog was welcomed with a biscuit which he appreciated! Lovely cosy lunch in a traditional pub by the fire. Would definitely come back again!

Had a lovely meal last Sunday afternoon. The staff were very friendly, the log fire and atmosphere was very cosy. The food was really tasty and satisfying and I thought good value. Would definitely recommend a visit. I had the fish pie and my husband had the steak - yummy.

Based on good write-ups my partner and I booked dinner on a quiet Wednesday evening. We were surprised by such an extensive and varied menu for such a seemingly isolated pub, but the dishes, for us, reflected an establishment with confidence in its offering. Portion sizes were definitely above average, and the quality of the cooking was excellent. Anyone who... More

Returning to Birchover for a short break to continue sight seeing the area, we again end up for three evenings in the Inn. Once the hieroglyphics of the menu board are deciphered you can choose some good pub grub. Friday night was a seven course fish menu with around eighteen people participating in a very enjoyable evening. Even the landlord... More

Where to start, the menu (on the chalkboard was written in some sort of weird barely legible script) but we chose the fish and chips (not too testing one would have thought) pretty basic stuff, with mushy peas................lets start with the peas, not mushy ..maybe some mushy mixed with some rock hard ones would be fair, and they were probably...
