Friendly old pub with fantastic beer. Always stop here after a good walk for some chips and a pint, although apparently the restaurant is excellent too.

Came here in the summer on the way to Rowter Rocks. Really good food, a little pricier and better than average pub grub. Very friendly staff and good service

We have been here a few times when on walks and now we make the 40 minute drive just for the pub. Fantastic beers, great people and excellent cheese! Do yourself a favour and take some home with you!! Matt (the brewer) is very knowledgable and interesting if you get the chance to have a chat with him.

Lovely traditional pub in this small Derbyshire village. It is linked to their own microbrewery with very tasty beers, a class above some other small brewery efforts. Good food with a wholesome basis. I enjoyed some pasta with a wild boar sauce. It was described as a light bite but it was a very adequate portion. The patrons also make... More

My brother and I had a few pints here, locally brewed beer was fantastic. Also super cool, I dropped 100 pounds outside. The owner found it and brought it to me in another pub (he checked the video camera to see who dropped it), super nice!

I dined here recently with my family and a guest from Florida. The food and service was excellent. It was efficient without being intrusive. The locally brewed (on site) beers are great and really do compliment the food. I had my 6 yr old daughter with me and even though I requested an off menu item it was prepared without... More

We had a lovely meal in this small pub. Friendly, welcoming staff. A short menu but good range of options with lots of homemade specials. Lovely homemade chips with the skin left on. A very tasty meal

Great place for a family meal out, whether it be in the middle of winter in front of the fire, or in the summer sitting outside in the sun. Great carvery on Sunday's with choice of 3 meats and great food otherwise.

We had heard about the Red Lion from some friends of ours. My family came from as far a field as .Derby. Hull. And Pontefract. In all 28 including 6 children. Most of us had a 3 course meal some had 2 courses. We arrived about 3:30 pm .had a sample of Matteo,s home brewed beer.as a seasoned beer drinker... More

We prebooked for a group of 17 (11 adults and 6 kids) and had a nice set of tables...spread of four different tables, actually. The food was fine, and the beer was nice. Paying the bill was a shambles. Just adding it all up seemed difficult. There was no way to split the bill, which wasn't ideal...and it all took... More

Firstly let me thank you for choosing to book with us for your meal and thank you for your kind comments regarding our home-brewed beer. We are very sorry that it took some time to organise your bill. We currently write our bills by hand, which works fine for smaller tables, but can be a lengthy process with larger tables... More
