About
The Patonga Beach Hotel has views accross Brisk Bay and a huge outdoor seating area. The Hotel and Bistro is open 7 days and 7 nights. We have over 15 beers on tap, an extensive wine list and live entertainment on Saturdays in our Sand Bar. The bistro offers an extensive menu highlighting local Patonga Oysters, a generous seafood platter, many pub favourites and a variety of dishes from around the world. Patonga means ‘little oyster’ in the Guringai people's language, whose country stretched from the north side of Port Jackson to the southern end of Lake Macquarie. Early English language maps of the area spelt Patonga as "Betonga". It is now a working fishing village at the southern end of the

We had a nice lunch with friends. Great location. I don’t mind leaving a tip for great service at restaurants. I wouldn’t normally expect to pay tips at a pub. I believe this is normal practice in Australia and factored into salary structures. So I...just found it increasingly irritating to have to find and hit the no tip button for every food and drink transaction before I could pay. I feel as though you’re pressuring customers for tips. They’ll do it themselves if they believe it’s appropriate and reasonable for the situation. I’m not going to return to places that do this. We are not the US .More

I ordered a seafood platter for 2 at $80, which was described as “serves 2”. My “lunch” consisted of 3 mussels, 3 prawns and 3 oysters which were flooded with vinegar, for $40. The description included kingfish, which I was expecting to be a cooked...fillet of fish, but which was a very small piece of raw kingfish “cooked” in lime juice, which I didn’t eat. A more honest description of this dish on the menu would have been helpful.More

The Hotel is located close to the beach. It’s a pleasant white construction, a large hotel with bars, accommodation and food. The Patonga hotel offers varied eating locations and we opted to sit outside. We were advised to be aware of diving Kookaburras and were...delighted to see a group of them. We all enjoyed our food, cauliflower curry, fish & chips and pumpkin with pasta. Fresh and delicious. A great lunch followed by a walk along the beach. RecommendedMore

The food was nice!! I got the Hawaiian pizza :) it is very clean (both the restaurant and the toilets were clean) and the service is wonderful. Every time we travel to Patonga we eat there also they kindly gave us little frog chocolates afterwards...which is a really nice gesture. I don’t have kids but it also seems quite kid friendly and the restaurant also allows dogs at the outside tables which is good because our cute and elderly dog can spend them with us while we eat :) I have visited here since I was like 2 years old and now I’m 20 years old and it has always been accomodating and clean. It can be quite busy though which isn’t the restaurants fault so definitely try to book if there is a lot of people!! It is right by Patonga beach so if you’re eating outside you’ll get a beautiful view of the beach. In conclusion this place is very clean, accommodating, kid friendly and dog friendly also the food is good. Such a nostalgic place full of childhood memories :) 💕More

The place itself was lovely, but that’s where it stops the food was bland and it’s run by a bunch of kids who have no idea. The room didn’t even have the basics ie shower cap and a pen. We have been to Barrenjoey House...and it was first class, Patonga is not a patch on it.More

There’s a mixture of ratings here because it can be hit and miss. I came last year and the service was dreadful with meals coming out at different times and wait staff completely disinterested. This time, thanks to a COVIDSAFE queue system it was less...of the usual stressful bun fight to get a table but still a wait and uncertainty about if you will get a table and when. With kids that’s not ideal. It opens at 10.30/11 and we arrived for lunch at 11.45. We waited 25mins for a table. They provided water in the queue and we’re very polite but we by they don’t offer bookings is beyond me. Food options are great, food was Delicious and hot and not long to wait. Some nice touches with the kids meals like the milkshake glasses and it’s a perfect spot to enjoy a meal. It’s also the only spot in Patonga pretty much! The renovation completed a few years ago is great and holding up well given the business of the place!More

Don't, just don't! We ordered take out. $19 Salad, which was a Coles bagged salad tipped into a Boathouse Box. No dressing, no finesse, gross. The pizza was so bad it was funny. Two torn pieces of sandwich ham thrown on top of a boxed...supermarket pizza, passed off as restaurant quality. You should be ashamed of yourselves. You may have a captive market, but, rest assured you'll tank if this continues. So very disappointing. Tip of the day - as per Gordon Ramsay, all people want is fresh good quality food. How hard is it?More

I have now eaten 4 times at this restaurant and feel it is time to write a review. There is no doubt that this is a great little spot in an idyllic location. The hotel has been beautifully styled and it is a very pleasant...experience to sit out on the courtyard. But the food....I am sorry to say that I have never had a good meal. First time we went I had scones for morning coffee- they were stale and tasteless. I sent them back as they were inedible. Next time I had the traditional fish and chips. They were cold and did not arrive when the other meals came and I had to ask for my meal. Next time I tried the fish and chips again- not too bad, but I have had much better everywhere else. So this final time I tried the beef burger which looked good as it went by. It was almost impossible to eat with the soggy bun and the whole thing eventually turned to slop on my plate as i picked out the various bits of salad and meat. So - That is it for me. I may have a cup of coffee next time I am in this lovely area, or glass of wine, but I will not be ordering the food. It must be making a fortune with the amount of customers they have, so there is really no excuse for the poor quality of the food. And by the way - from what I saw, a number of the customers show pretty bad manners with a sense of privilege and entitlement as well, and were not bothering to meet the Covid requirements, but just walked in.More

We have not been to Patonga for many years and thought we would go for a Sunday drive, much to our surprise we came across Patonga Beach Hotel, we arrived at 1050 to discover they open at 11am so we joined a small Q and...were seated within 5 mins after registration on the QR code for Covid 19. The meal and service were great and has no issues, staff are friendly and service was very prompt. This is somewhere a tourist should venture to as its a gem in Sydney.More

Beautiful location and so wonderful to sit on the deck and look out to sea. We watched the ferry and boats come and go. Hard to beat the location. Enjoyed the seafood platter which was nice but we had a long wait for our meal.

The venue itself is stunning as is the location BUT the staff are absolutely hopeless! It felt like there is no systems in place for serving customers, delivering food and drinks to tables. Pity help the person who ordered the pizza we watched going from...table to table for over 20 minutes. We went to the bar to check where our drinks were to be told they’re busy and are coming soon, when I got back to the table the girl was there delivering them! SOCIAL DISTANCING VENUE RULES ARE NOT BEING ADHERED TO. Chairs at adjoining tables were touching each other and we saw a group of 12 people enter the premisesMore

Beautifully crafted venue with all the touches and coastal chic we have come to expect from the Boathouse group. Food was excellent as always and surprisingly good value for money. Location on the still waters edge and fringed by the gorgeous dense forest of Brisbane...Waters National Park, the venue is a destination onto itself. It should be noted, however, that they have either cut staff for this period under Covid or only operate on a skeleton team. The line up to register details is arduous. Only one person to sign you in on an iPad which would are fine most of the time but not during peak arrivals 1130-1330. Both bar and food ordering counters were only managed by a single staff member. The queue for food ordering was always at least 8 guests deep. The staff were great mind you but I would have thought at least 2 should be behind the food ordering and 2 for registration in during peak periods. Still everything moved quite quickly considering the venue was close to capacity so it does still work - just could be more efficient. Great place, great spot, great addition to the F&B scene along Sydney's coastline.More

Water Taxis Australia charge around $125.00 each way up to 12 passengers from palm beach to the boathouse Hotel Patonga. We had 6 in total so we split the return cost at around $40 bucks each. Nice boat!
