Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

While walking our dogs in the mornings we've stopped off at number of breakfast places all over South Perth but now we usually just go to to the MP Cafe Bookshop and go there about once a week. The staff are very friendly and adore our dogs plying them with lots of treats and cuddles. The food is very good, I like the Tuscan pot and the Sautéed Mushrooms. Excellent coffee so we sometimes linger for a second cup.

I have eaten breakfast and lunch here six or seven times in the last few weeks. The food has been consistently delicious and the orange juice fresh. I particularly enjoyed the sautéed mushrooms, the French toast and the big breakfast. The staff have been friendly and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. I am hesitant to write this review in case it becomes too popular!

We popped into the cafe bookshop late on a Monday morning. Once inside we headed left towards the cafe part of the building. There was a range of sweet and savoury (e.g. rolls) goods on display plus there was a menu plus specials blackboard. My wife and I both went with a sweet muffin while she had a latte and I had a chai latte. Our order got a bit jumbled when our muffins went to another table initially. They eventually found their way to us and our drinks arrived a tad later. It wasn't the only mixed up order we saw while we were there. The muffins were tasty although mine felt a bit cloying by the end. The latte was fine; my chai was ok but didn't quite taste as spicy as I would have expected by one made with tea leaves. Cafe - a pass. We then wandered into the bookshop area. Underwhelming is the best word I can use to describe it. Not a lot of titles on offer and I couldn't spot an obvious theme. Maybe an Australian focus. Not sure. Bookshop - a fail.

I ordered an almond milk long Mach due to me being lactose intolerant. Had a sip and immediately knew it was made with cows milk. Returned to the barista and asked for it to be made with almond milk and she replied saying she made it with almond milk. I have worked in hospitality for 5 years and know that it should’ve been remade as mistakes can easily be made. I’m now sitting on the toilet really paying for this coffee.

We are very sorry for the mistake made, our barista was sure that it was your order which was made with almond milk which is why she said yes that it was the correct milk. We use separate jugs for the different milks to make sure that no mistakes and mix ups occur. We can only think that it was someone else's takeaway order that you were given by mistake. Once again we are sorry for any inconvenience. We are always happy to remake a coffee if you believe it is wrong. Kind Regards Millpoint Book Cafe

So disappointed as we hadn't been here in a while and it is definitely not what it used t be. The food lacked seasoning. No kids menu options. Prices were quite expensive for what you got. The avocado on toast was over run with pesto and on the 'big breakfast' the eggs were overcooked. One positive was the coffee and juices were good. For a book cafe there were hardly any books available on the shelves.

Mill Point Road is quite a trendy area these days. Millpoint Caffe Bookshop combines books with coffee, someone should have thought of this combination before. The coffee is good and the books are interesting. What more could you want?

Dear Vanita, Thank you for your review on tripadvisor. As we already wrote on Facebook under your comment, in our menu we state "Millpoint Bruschetta" Sourdough/pesto/raw spinach/tomato/avocado/2 eggs/feta Dear we are NOT selling it for traditional Italian bruschetta!!!!!!! We are really sorry that you did eat the bruschetta but was not what you thought as you told our friendly and polite staff member. With all the respect, we made you the Millpoint bruschetta with NOT RUNNY FRIED EGGS as you asked when you paid for it. Dear Vanita our staff members are one of the most nicest in Perth as they have years of experience in customer service and they would lose their job if they are rude. I really thank you so much for sharing your review though. Best regards

Books and coffee -- it's such a good combination, it's a wonder no-one thought of combining a bookshop and coffee shop before. Not so long ago, this part of Mill Point Road was a bit down-at-heal, now it's quite upmarket. Millpoint Caffe Bookshop has good books and great cakes, it's a fine addition to the neighbourhood.

While staying in South Perth I was delighted to find Millpoint cafe and bookshop. This place ticks all the boxes: hidden gem, great layout with indoor and outdoor dining options, relaxed atmosphere, great menu options and meals, great coffees and smoothies, outstanding bookshop and reading lounges! Definately my go-to in South Perth!

Totally enjoyed the ambiance, the friendly service, the excellent cakes and coffee. Great to have the books too. The outside area is good and offers shade. Inside you are surrounded by a wonderful choice of books and if the title you want isn’t there they will order it for you. Beyond simply cakes there was a bistro menu for something more. Take the time out and head there soon. Well worth a visit.

Millpoint Caffe Bookshop combines two things that logically go together -- coffee and books. The books are mainly best-sellers, though they have some books which are more scholarly in orientation -- they have a big range. The coffee is very good, ask for a seat in the window. I had a passion-fruit slice with my coffee, it was delicious. The cafe bookshop has been in business for 20 years, it's obviously popular.
