First time visitors for Sunday lunch. Warm welcome, Shown to table, drinks order taken arrived promptly. Food order taken, and this is where it stated to go downhill. A long wait for starters to arrive, food was served over cooked and completely unappetising. White bait...was had been so over cooked you couldn’t even recognise it white bait. Dried out and blackened in colour. Mozzarella sticks solid in the middle through over heating. When asked; how was your meal? We did respond honestly. When the mains finally arrived, again another long wait, we couldn’t have been more disappointed. The Yorkshire pudding was completely inedible. They were so hard and dried out, you risked breaking teeth. Not enough veg for 5 people and what was served was poor. Peas swimming in warm water, watery cabbage and cauliflower. We felt too embarrassed to complain again, plus we were all extremely hungry as this point. Maybe we were at the end of the Sunday lunch service? So we got was had been hanging around for a while. It wasn’t freshly cooked, it had been heated up )for too long!) Maybe they were short staffed, who knows. But quality was poor. It’s not difficult to produce a good roast Shame it went so wrong on this occasion. Like I said, maybe we were just unlucky.....More

This was our first visit to the White Lion since lockdown - we've missed going there for a roast after a Sunday walk. It was lovely to be back - same great welcome, great food and great value. All guidelines were strictly adhered to, and...table service was efficient and friendly. My beef fillet was really tasty and my partner loved his curry. We'll be very happy to return soonMore

A very relaxing atmosphere. The food was excellent and the service efficient. One of the best roasts we've had in a while. The puds are to die for. We sat under the awning in the garden. It was raining but our dog loved it, as...we did. Glad we went.More

A group of around 15 walkers pre-booked for lunch after a morning’s walk. The booking and pre-orders were efficiently handled, and I think that it was the general opinion that the 2 course offer at £9.95 represented excellent value for money.

We visited with friends for lunch after a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Good menu with plenty of choice and lovely traditional puddings to indulge in. Although none of us was vegan on this occasion , our son follows that diet so it will...be nice to visit with him on another occasion. The service was a little slow but possibly this was to ensure all 6 of were served together - we were not in a hurry so not really a problem.More

We had intended to visit for ages,as our daughter lives nearby and we drive past frequently. Anyway, today we stopped for lunch.I am disabled with mobility problems but the pub was easy to access with only a small step. The pub is cosy with lots of tables,with...room between which is important for me. Comprehensive menu with something for everyone. My burger was delicious, likewise my husband's prawn baguette..No alcohol due to driving but the coffee is excellent.(La Vazza). Service reasonably quick, and all staff very pleasant.Dogs are welcome. There is a beer garden which will be useful in the summer with the grandchildren. Will definitely visit again.More

We hadn't planned on going to a pub in Selling but the weather meant plans changed and at the last minute we were looking for a pub that was vegan and dog friendly. We landed on our feet here! Great options for meat eaters and...vegans. Vegan chilli was yummy, if a little small, fish and chips were also fab. Dog also enjoyed himself with lots of fusses and treats.More
