I just love the Sondes! Pre-covid, yes I can remember that far back (!) we loved to visit for lunch and enjoy the vast healthy range of offerings and the fabulous spread of sides and salads that you could choose from! The selection of teas,...juices, coffee drinks, the vibe, the decor...just fabulous. Now we frequent the local store to support this little gem until life gets back to normal again. As soon as humanly possible, I’ll be banging down the doors to get in for lunch!More

Have always loved this place as it's so quirky and a relaxed atmosphere. Since COVID they have been running the local shop, and offering a take-a-way service and have been working tirelessly to help support the locals. It's a great place for your pint of...milk or some local produce, and a fab hot chocolate, and endless tea's & coffees. It's much more of a personal service than say a starbucks and I like to support independant businesses. This must be a difficult time for them so thanks for adapting!More

Visited The Sondes Tea House before Christmas 2020. My summary of that visit was friendly staff, average food, expensive. Visited again March 2020, my summary is now unfriendly staff, lovely food, good portion size, expensive. Two of us visited recently and had a couple of...platters, tea and side dishes. The mains, aubergine & pasta, and a tagine were really tasty, with a good rocket salad coucous and a huge dollop of humous (a bit bland). The veg sausage roll made with rice was delicious, and I really enjoyed the tea. Didnt leave hungry. The place is now feeling a bit grubby. A lovely large mirror was filthy, the whole place needs a bit of TLC. I guess I was unlucky that the day I visited there was a child running around bothering guests, 2 screaming babies and a barking dog. Ambiance nil!! The lady in charge was a bit of a let down. 3 things....she wandered off during my food order at the counter...when she asked me if I enjoyed my meal, I started to reply, but she then started talking to someone else, finally I managed to pay, and she made no eye contact at all. Everyone has an off day. But on this day service was chilly, rude and impersonal. Given that our lunch came to £32 I feel a bit cheated. I place a value of about £16 for the food and £16 for service and the environment. I am not sure the venue earned its money for cleanliness and service, so I place a value of £16 on the overall visit. I can forgive busy staff, and a bit of grime....but I think management need to take a hard look at their offer delivery. Appears to me that they take their customers for granted, strut around a bit high and mighty in a quite shabby place, and it seems that their demographic is dropping as fast as their charm. They will hate this review....but once they calm down, should attend to the shortcomings described for the good of their own business.More

Quirky We had been told of this by friends and their recommendation exceeded our expectation. Huge ranges of teas, unusual other hot drinks, such as beetroot latte with coconut milk, home made cakes and a lunch menu to fast for

I was taken here by friends and didn’t expect that much from a vegetarian cafe. How surprised I was. A gloomy old Victorian pub had been converted into a pleasant tea room with tables sandwiched between potted plants which gave an intimate air. There is...no menu, but the food is on display for you to choose. I had a herby potato and carrot hotpot with several side salads. It was very tasty and well served. A choice of some 60 different teas and some very good cakes for desert. I had an spicy apple strudel. All very good with good service and excellent value.More

Popped in for a cuppa and a cake with my mum and ended up having brunch as all the food looked and smelled too good to pass up on. Very tasty soup and quiche with salad! Charmingly decorated and friendly service. Heading back very soon!

Visited here first time, knowing they had just re-opened after winter break, with a smaller menu for a few days. We had the Veg stew with dumplings, with was lovely, and though we were full, we couldn't resist a piece of vegan chocolate cake, which...was delicious. All I can say is if this is your simpler menu, we cannot wait to come back soon. Lovely vibe and friendly efficient staff. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you everyone xMore

I'm sorry but I'm not sure about alcoholic drinks - I have only had coffee and tea there.

There is no breakfast menu. The only things for sale at breakfast are cakes, tea, coffee, drinks. Lunch starts at midday.
