Visited on Saturday early teatime. Staff very friendly and helpful. Menu on board in the bar area. Prices reasonable for food, drinks very well priced. Food arrived on hot plates and was very tasty. Will visit again.

First time eating here in a long time but not the last. Meals were excellent, very tasty and nicely presented on warm plates. Enjoyed the evening and will definitely be back.

The beer garden has an activity play area for kids to climb over and enjoy. The bar is well decorated and inviting for all weary travellers in need of sustenance.

Mother's Day , the other week. Table booked for six people , and it was a nice sunny day. We sat outside and said call us when ready. Meals had been ordered earlier. Large table for six in a corner, we were well placed . Staff , front of house were very good. Problem in the kitchen was evident as... More

Passing in our motorhome, the sign said "Food served 12 till 9"; as it was just gone 7pm, we stopped to get a meal only to be told the kitchen closes at 7!! Talking to some regulars in the pub, there for a quiz night, it seems this the norm rather than an exception........maybe change the sign outside to save... More

Went to the Tunnel Top this afternoon for dinner, and it didn't disappoint. The service was great really friendly couple serving us the food was fantastic, and we both had the ribeye steak from the menu and i have to say it was the best steak I'd eaten in ages. Definitely be back and definitely recommend to friends and family

Having used the TT since we moved here 17 years ago we have seen it go through some changes. Some good and some not so. The new owners have brought in a new chef and all we can say is " Amazing ". We visited early on Friday night to celebrate our son's 18 birthdays and obviously for them to... More

Went here with colleagues from work. The food is freshly cooked so did take longer than usual. We were told we are able to fax/phone our order in advance so the food would be ready for when we arrived. We will definitely do this next time. The food was delicious and of a very high standard, it was well worth... More

Pleasant reception from bar staff. The black pudding scotch egg with mustard mayonnaise was beautiful, with a soft yolk. Home made produce made on sight. No microwave bagged food here. Rib eye steak cooked just how I love it - medium rare. Too full for a dessert, what an excuse to return. :-)

The Tunnel Top, formerly known as the Talbot Arms has stood above the Preston Brook Tunnel on the Trent & Mersey Canal since 1903. The pub has seen many changes over time yet has remained at the heart of a local community for many years and is still inviting for passing travellers and canal users throughout the year. Many local walks can be commenced from the pub, for those interested in rural history.
