We were very excited to learn that the horseshoes were doing takeaway food during the lockdown and being keen to support our local businesses, we downloaded their app and on the Saturday evening around 6pm ordered and paid for two full breakfasts for 8.30-8.45 delivery...next morning. 8.45 came and went, no delivery, so tried to call - no response. Then again at 9.15 no response. Checked emails and an email timed at 9.06 simply said said we don’t deliver breakfast. What?!!! Firstly, remove breakfast from your delivery app, so folks can’t order and pay for something they can’t have; Secondly, If we had been told when we ordered (not after the expected time of delivery) that delivery was not possible, then we would have happily collected. To get a two line email saying sorry we don’t deliver breakfast after the time delivery was supposed to happen and when you have had an order confirmation and payment taken is at best a bit rubbish. Add to that the shocking customer service that dismisses the fact that we were sat waiting for food, has removed the idea of ever using that service again. What I shame. We were so looking forward to that breakfast and with treatment like this at a time when businesses are up against it and we want to support them by ordering take away leaves a bad taste. Hopefully this is a one off, they will up their game and treat customers with a bit more respect. Personally I won’t hold my breath! Such a shame :-(More

I had booked to stay at the horseshoes for three nights. I checked in at 4 and was shown to my room, the stairway up was very narrow and steep and hard to navigate,( I have osteoarthritis in my knees) I was glad that my...son carried my case up for me. The room had a distinctive musty smell and the windows were open and I looked out on to a roof. When I arrived back that evening around 9.30 I began to take a closer look at the bedroom. The bed did not have a headboard. The old MFI furniture was very stained on the top ( I know it was MFI furniture because I had thrown the exact same out 20 years ago!) The bedside light did not work. I took it downstairs and asked for one that worked and could anything be done about the smell? The young lady gave me a different light and came and poured something down the shower. Explaining that due to Covid they had now been able to get a plumber in to fix it? It was very difficult to feel comfortable that night. Due to Covid I had to pre order Breakfast and give a time I want breakfast that was fine of course. When I arrived down for breakfast arrived very quickly, which I commented on and was told that was the good thing about pre-ordering food. But I soon found out the bad thing was that it arrived cold! Ok the baked beans, hash browns and egg were hot the rest whilst cooked was tepid. I just wanted to get out so didn’t say anything. I asked for my bill to be made up. When I came down, after having to walk backwards down the stairs with my bags, I was expected to pay for 2 nights stay. At this point I broke down into tears and told the girl how unhappy I had been. It was the same girl that I told about the smell in my room. She then proceed to say she could move me to a nicer room?! Why hadn’t she done that last night? The only positive was that she ended up not charging me. If the rooms are different standard that should be made clear to you. But whatever standard it is unacceptable to have a drain smell in your room and a cold breakfast!More

We went to the Horseshoes as we had heard good things about it. A little disappointed, the place was empty and the food was average. The decor was very tired and dated, like being back in the 1970s. On the plus side the staff were...very friendly and attentive.More

Popped into billingford horseshoes for a couple of drinks and decided to eat. Menu wasn't to big but enough to choose from, proper pub grub food on the menu. Me and my partner went for the 8oz rump steak, mine being cooked rare and his...medium/rare. Both cooked to perfection, couldn't fault the meat at all, tasted lovely and was a decent size. My stepdaughter went for the child's fish fingers meal which came with 2 scoops of ice cream with her choice of flavour for afters. Staff lovely in the pub, very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be returning very soon.More

Nice pub but recently changed landlords so I understand, New menu not updated on website so was very disappointed after driving 60 miles to find out what we were going for was not available anymore and they had stopped using the skillets for their steaks...which did set it above other pubs. Food was ok and nicely presented but not as good as it used to be. Tony PeterboroughMore

We had a great Sunday roast. We arrived at 2:45pm just before they stopped serving as everything was wrapped already but the owners were so accommodating that they said it was no trouble at all. We had our small dog with us and asked if...it was ok to eat outside with our dog. Although it was sunny, it was a little chilly being September. The owner invited us and the dog to eat in. How kind. The pub/restaurant is quaint. We sat ion a cubicle. They also have lovely deserts too. Wonderful pub/restaurant.More

We have driven past this pub for years but never been in. We stopped off yesterday 17th August and from the moment we entered the staff we friendly and pleasant. Drinks and food came out very quickly service was brilliant. Very well priced for a...family of four the cost of our meal was under £25. The only downside was my wife and I had burgers, the baps the were served on were stale. When we told staff they were very quick to replace them for us. Saying that though the pub had a great atmosphere, very homely feel and good food would highly recommend. Thank you again to all the staff, hope to see you all soonMore

I have worked in a pub & I have never treated anyone with the disrespect we were treated with today. We ordered fish n chips & a salad. It was 2pm on a Saturday afternoon so not particularly busy. After waiting for an hour my...partner enquired when we could expect our meals, the gentlemen was very gruff. But 10 mins later he appeared with a Birds Eye style piece of cod & chips & literally threw our money back at us. We left immediately.More

Finally got to return here after several years out of the area to my beloved jumbo sausages, Really pleased to see John still behind the bar and as quirky as ever, Sausages in my eyes can do no wrong but my wife found them the...worst ever and she is responsible for the marking of this post, Only criticism is place feels like it’s being packed up ready to move out as all the nice windmill pictures in the back had gone, then again so had the sails on the actual windmill outside, See you soon John!!!!More
