My wife and I were stumped on where to go for dinner on our last night in town. My caddie that day suggested McCooleys. So why not, we were seated right away on the veranda. They were a little busy, and the 2 waiters were running around. Our waiter took our drink order and answered our questions about the menu... More

Enjoyed our meal but meat portion was very small, vegetables were varied and adequate. As this was a Saturday night we waited for the Trad session in bar. The music and singers were excellent. However on visiting the Ladies Toilet they left a lot to be desired. They definitely had not been cleaned all day and there was no notice... More

This was a wonderful brief stay in such a quaint village. The owners of the Country House were welcoming and made us feel like family. I definitely encourage visitors to Ballybunion to experience their hospitality.

We arrived on Sunday evening for dinner. Head waiter said that restaurant part was booked out so we were seated in the bar which was cold and not comfortable, uneven tables and stools. Eight of us huddled around a few bar tables pushed together. Food was good and well presented. The waiter suggested that we wouldn't like the wine on... More

We had a fabulous meal here during a weekend trip to Kerry. The menu was well-priced and offered plenty of choice. All looked excellent. I chose lobster - straight from the tank - accompanied by a side of chips and tasty salad. My wife ordered crab and prawn linguini. The sauce was delicious and authentic enough to remind us of... Wow, We were passing for one night in Ballybunion on the way back to Cork after our week away and were so happy to find Kilcooly's. We sat at what can only be described as the Chefs table, as there is an open kitchen in the restaurant and my wife was actually encouraged by the chef to come up and... More
