We stopped here for refreshments after going to New Quay for lunch and visiting Kinvara. We liked the atmosphere, but beer and wine choices were good. I tried the local Galway oysters, but they were not agreeable to my taste (I like American east coast and west coast oysters). This place is a stop on the frequent bus tours through... More

The meal started of well with a very nice goat's cheese starter. However, the main course of baked salmon was extremely disappointing and overpriced (€19) as a result. The piece of salmon was tiny, and the "lemon veloute" sauce just tasted like unflavoured cream. The "seasonal vegetables" accompanying it were so bland that I didn't bother eating them - bog... We were there for a dinner. Food was served very quickly and it tasted delicious. The staff was welcoming, smiling, very friendly and quick. We recommend this restaturant.

Restaurant was not overly busy but all diners were requsted to "wait to be seated". Several people actually sat of there own accord due to the unreasonably long wait for attention from the lacking staff. Once seated we had to ask a passing member of staff to take our order, as we were left for far too long waiting for... More

The food is the traditional fare with a few extras. The prices were on the higher side but not outrageous. They can also get quite busy during the high season so expect a wait if you're there at the peak times.

Location can't be changed and think God for that. Went on a busy Bank Holiday Saturday and was quickly brought to a table even though it was hopping. Quick friendly service with a joke and a smile. Colours for kids and plenty of distractions of photos, etc Prompt food served and cooked beautifully. Well impressed and pleasantly surprised with a... More

It had been many years since our last visit to Monks, having heard some poor reports about the food. However, on driving past the newly refurbished pub on Saturday afternoon and receiving positive feedback from our b&b host, we decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint! Despite having no reservation (Easter Saturday), a table was found for... More

Had a fabulous meal in Monks on Wednesday last. This restaurant serves the most amazing sea food. Sampled some of their famous oysters. Delicious. Four of us for a meal and everyone more than happy. Their Pil Pil Prawns are something else. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys top quality food and a friendly environment.

Nice food, but shame about the service which was a struggle with one young man running to keep the show on the road. It was stressful just watching him. Departed without receiving full order.
