Pearla na Mara is a name shared by two restaurants in Galway, one in Oranmore village and the other in Galway city itself. In the interests of full disclosure I have only ever frequented the Oranmore restaurant but have done so many times. However based on the quality and attention to detail in the Oranmore restaurant it is reasonable to... More

I ate here recently, for the first and, probably, last time.It was all very poor, my wife's goats cheese starter tasted like it was taken from a cheap packet. I had scallops for starters, they were overcooked and rubbery. The price for them was a bit much too, given that you only receive 4 very small scallops. I had the... More

We have eaten here many times with family and Justine always looks after us. The meat and fish is first class and they have some imaginative desserts made with Matcha Green Tea.

We visited here on a week day. We were greeted warmly by our friendly waitress. I decided to order the soup and the pasta carbonara. Both dishes were very tasty and filling. Coffee was also delicious. The restaurant was very clean and had a nice atmosphere. It was quiet but we expected it to be since it was not peak... More

The food was ok and the price/quality ratio good, but the service was poor ... after waiting 30 minutes for our medium-rare stakes and enquiring why they were taking so long, the owner said 'that's physics', which is a nonsense answer in any case, and miraculously our semi-cold steaks appeared overcooked 1 minute later ... and the restaurants was quiet... I always feel that a restaurant is like a relationship sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. We found the bar list very limited and expensive. Our food was fine except the starters were overpriced. Medium rare means rare here. Our waitress had the bad habit of taking our critical comments (made to each other, not her) personally and wanted... More

For some reason, my September 2, 2016 review fell off Tripadvisor even after I had a helpful vote. Let's try again! In August, 2016, we went to Pearla na Mara at the suggestion of a friend. What a lovely surprise this restaurant, unremarkable from the outside, was. We had the monkfish, prepared by Chef Steve Jordan, and it was definitely... More
