Lots of great places to drink in Clifden but Griffins bar felt more of a local than something set up for tourists so a great atmosphere. Beer was great, boxing on a widescreen TV and a proper Irish music group on in the bar. There is a disco on a Saturday night which was busy and I have to thank... More

The back bar showed a variety of sports: we wanted to watch rugby, but golf was on. The guys in the bar were very friendly and accommodating- and the Guinness was wonderful!

Griffins distinguishes itself from an average Irish pub by presenting the best music in Clifden. As with most pubs the music may start up to 30 minutes later than advertised. The music is Irish folk and ballads. If you want Irish traditional (no singing) you may well choose another pub. But try Griffins first.

Griffin's is a great local pub in the center of Clifden that pours excellent Guinness and has traditional music most nights. We were there recently and saw a local group called the Slyne Heads who played traditional Irish music as well as taking requests. It's an intimate pub with the bar and seats close to musicians. John is an excellent... More

Griffins is a traditional old Irish pub. A bit scruffy, not particularly clean, lovely friendly staff and a few regulars hanging around the bar. Perfect ! We were there for lunch. I had baked potatoes and they were delicious as they should be in Ireland. My husband had a steak sandwich and really enjoyed it too. The servings were huge... More

Nice bar. Old fashioned benches. If only the music had started on time would have got the extra star.

David Griffin along with Lisa Coohill were exceptional hosts that made us feel like family. We tried every seafood chowder from Galway to Lahinch & none surpassed theirs. The love music was exceptional, included the likes of Reckless Kelly, brother members of Mickey & the Motorcars, Muzzie Braun & Jason Eady, to name a few.

Went out for a night in Clifden. Tried to meet up with band playing in the Square that I knew personally and the local cycling club but the owner refused to let us meet our friends. Very disappointed.

My experience here has solidified Griffin's Bar as a place to visit every time I come to Ireland. Many a troubadour has came through this pub and to shared their music. As a visiting American, I was surprised to hear how many of my heros came through here. David & David Griffin the father and son proprietors were great fun.... More
