I don't normally like to focus too much on one aspect of a visit to a restaurant but I have to say that the chips we had in the Boathouse Bistro were special. A bit of bite on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Sea-salted in advance - I don't know if that's healthier or not but, really, I don't... More

Words almost fail me as it is difficult to convey just how good this restaurant is, but I will try. The restaurant is blessed with a setting which is up there with the best locations to have a meal anywhere in the world! The design of The Boathouse ,both inside and out, is wonderful, using a nautical theme in the... More

We had an unplanned stop for lunch on Saturday 29th - we drove out the Sheen road from Kenmare and the entrance to Dromquinna is just beautiful, green, fresh cared for grounds, majestic trees and then you come to the Shop and the main house and off to the left The Boathouse - very understated approach but inside it is... Many thanks Catherine for the lovely review and coming to dine with us. You have no idea how thrilled I am about your comment on the chips. I researched them for 2 years and love them as they are golden on the outside and fluffy white on the inside. Not easy find. The "crew" will love you also!!!! Anyway delighted... More

We were staying in the area to walk. We sadly only discovered this on our last night. The setting is amazing and the staff were most welcoming. Flor was our waiter and he was both attentive and helpful. We were a party of 4 adults and all ordered different courses. We all enjoyed our 3 courses equally. The food was... More

Spent a fabulous afternoon here, helped by excellent staff and really good food. Sat on the terrace in glorious sunshine after our meal. The calamari and sweet potato fries were delicious. The restaurant itself and terrace were spotless. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, extremely professional, a real asset to this business.

An oasis in which you can relax and enjoy excellent food. Very friendly and helpful service. Dogs not allowed but can leave dog in vehicle in parking lot which is safe and close to Bistro. We ensured we could revisit for lunch on our holidays. This is a must to visit.

So sorry about the dogs but some people just don't "manage" them hence our decision not to allow them in the restaurant. We have two dogs ourselves so know how how you feel. Delighted you liked lunch and service and hope to see you next time you are in the area. More
