My partner and I were on holiday in Airlie beach and were hunting for a decent breakfast spot. After searching through town and reading reviews we decided to stop by the Fat Frog Cafe. Let me tell you it did NOT disappoint! The reviews speak the truth.
Firstly we ordered a coffee. 2 cappuccino’s and my god they where delicious. As someone who searches for good coffee, Fat Frog Cafe has possibly the best in Airlie beach. They use Campos coffee beans and every sip left me feeling satisfied. Only 1 barista in the cafe who was a lovely lady.
Secondly we ordered food. I had the Eggs any way (scrambled) with bacon, hash browns and home made tomato relish. The eggs where cooked perfectly. Super light and fluffy and delicious and the rest of the meal was tasty and fresh. I am someone who puts bbq sauce on everything to make it taste better and I didn’t use a single drop of the bbq sauce I ordered. That’s how good the food was in my opinion!
My partner had the Pancakes which came with strawberries, blueberries, ice cream and maple syrup and she absolutely loved them! Said they where the best she had ever had. I tried a bit myself and they are definitely tasty!
The cafe is only small and is on the waterfront.
Little bit of a wait for food as there is only a small amount of staff but the wait was well worth it.
I highly recommend anyone looking for a great start to the day with breakfast or even just a coffee to visit Fat Frog Cafe. We will be back tomorrow no doubt about that!

We only found this place through trip advisor, big breakfast is was very tasty and more than enough of a serve.... Coffees very good as well and also very popular with the locals.
We arrived half an hour after opening and already the cafe was nearly full
Very relaxed atmosphere with nice views over the water and dog/kids friendly as well. Definitely worth a try.... you won’t be disappointed.

A beautiful little cafe, with friendly staff. This cafe served beautiful breakfast/brunch foods and even catered for people with Coeliac Disease. I will visit again if I return to Airlie Beach, and 10/10 recommend to anyone with coeliac disease/gluten intolerance.

I came here this morning after reading reviews and seeing good things. I had researched the menu and knew what I wanted to get!
When I arrived I was greeted by a lovely light brown haired waitress to took me to my table and offered a drink, I needed a minute so she said she would be back.
About 5-10 minutes later I could see that she was busy serving a someone at the coffee counter and I could see that she knew about me as I caught her eye, so it’s is I no way negative feedback about her - She couldn’t help that she was busy... but the other three/four waitresses were all having a VERY loud catch up at the counter and couldn’t give two stuffs about me (one of the only three tables sat in the entire venue).
I assumed there was table service as the other waitress had offered it, but after a while I just got up and went to the counter to order. The dark haired waitress had a very nonchalant attitude when she asked “what can I get for you chick”.
Unfortunately half an hour after opening they were out of the second dish on the menu. The waitresses did apologise for that, and I understand it’s not her fault, but her blaze attitude and her excuse (the cream order didn’t come in) was a little off putting. If the cream order doesn’t come in surely it’s not that hard for management to run to coles and pick some up, it’s right down the road and I imagine this particular dish would be quite popular.
I decided to go elsewhere as I really had my heart set on the breakfast panna cotta and the dark haired waitresses attitude turned me off the idea of eating something else from the menu.

Very dispointed in the service seems like staff could nt give a stuff with.there service waited 45 mins to be served my take away the whole cafe that was eating inside got there meals first. The steak wrap was disapointing so much sauce droned in sauce the wrap was soggy from too much sauce and very little steak on the wrap and the cafe is run by hippys that have a non professional attitude. The only good thing was the banana smoothie s .

Thought i would try this establishment for the first time alot of people have raved about this establishment. Arrived at the worst time ever closing time at 1.45pm didnt do my homework on this. Asked to sit inside but how ever cleaning was happening and was told we had to sit outside. The waitress quickly took our order rushed us to make a selection to get it in to the kitchen. Menu needs to be easier to read in my opinion just looks like lot of lines and no structure to it. I ordered fish and chips and my friend ordered steak sandwich. And 2 coffees takeway thinking they would be a bigger cup. Coffees come out was like a medium sized takeway cup you get anywhere else. Coffee was nice but not overly hot. Meals came out looked impressive. My friend enjoyed the steak sandwich but couldnt eat it all. Was a bit of grissle that made my friend use the toilets to vomit. The owner gave her a fowel look as she came out of the toilets. The fish and chips well yep trying to be fancy with barramundi was muddy as anything batter was thick to make it look more than 3 peices of small fish. The server said it was local somehow i dont beleive them it was locally caught but however over all my experianced was rushed but that was on my doing how ever this establishment must be doing alright az it turned away nearly $100.00 of extra trade in take away coffe was it was closed, but staff wherr still cleaning inside and what not. Over all over prices could get better quality at another establishment for cheaper.

Hi Ju J … it goes without saying that I’m saddened to read your review, but as always we take feedback as valuable in helping us ensure we continually strive to offer the best product and service we can.
To answer your points …
Yes, we close at 2.00pm and we will start to clean, vacuum and mop if we have no customers inside, asking customers to take a seat outside if they are happy to. Having said that, most people actually choose outside as there’s a lovely afternoon sea breeze and the most incredible views.
The menu – it mirrors the layout of almost any menu in any café or restaurant – that is, a detailed description of the meal with pricing.
Coffee … we offer a standard 8oz and 12oz size, I’m not quite sure what your expectation was, so I apologise for any disappointment.
Meals … the steak sandwich and fish ‘n chips are amongst our most popular meals and receive the highest praise particularly for flavour and freshness … the fish is indeed salt water barramundi (fresh water barramundi has a reputation of being muddy, but salt water is clean, fresh and firm) and is received fresh from our local fish monger – it is crumbed (not battered) meaning there is no ‘bulk’ to make it look anything other than 3 very generous pieces of fish. But I appreciate your feedback, we will continue to monitor quality.
Turning away trade … I’m confused as to why you felt the need to make this comment - as a business owner it’s necessary to make a judgement call on trading hours in terms of managing the cost of staff wages and from several years of closing at 2pm it works very well for us … we very very very rarely turn away customers after that.

After reading reviews decided to visit the fat frog. It was very busy even though pouring rain once we were seated enjoyed a yummy breakfast, the Fat frog big breaky was huge and tasty.

The best breakfast in our week away. Would go back instantly. Excellent friendly service and packed with locals, many mums on the school run.
The Green Frog breakfast special presented poached eggs sprinkled with Dhaka, served with asparagus and avocado. There was a little bit of hummus, some cherry tomato and an addition of lashings of bacon. The plate was full, excellent presentation, taste, texture and comfort feeling! Thanks Chef!
Coffee ticked all the boxes, using Campos beans and being served in the right cups and at the right temperature. Thanks Barista!
Highly recommended.

I have breakfast at this cafe once or twice almost every month when I have clinics in the Whitsundays and have always had a great dining experience. Today however, the staff have been extremely rude showing impatience and disdain perhaps as to why I have to think a little about which coffee to order (yes, complete with rolling of eyeballs). The service was rushed and they were already cleaning and preparing the other half of the table I was dining on for the expected 0830 reservation (I arrived 5 minutes before opening time @0730). Very hesitant to print out a GST receipt for my meals (although it took her less than 5 secs to do). Rude, unfrendly staff. Great food though.

Hi SkinDoc … firstly, thank you so very much for taking the time to leave your review, particularly as a regular customer. I cannot apologise enough that this was your experience. It’s heartbreaking. Even though we were gearing up for a busy day, there are no excuses for rude service. I truly am so very sorry. I will take this opportunity to remind my whole team that what may seem like a “small thing” can come across in such a different way and create an experience soooooooooooooo different to our usual genuine happy friendly fun service philosophy. Good extensive range of food for breakfast & lunch. Premises is also licenced. We had the fish tacos & the Thai Beef salad which were both plentiful & reasonably priced. Cafe also has a great outlook over the water. Easy walking distance if staying in the Canningvale location.

My wife googled a breakfast venue at Airlie Beach. Fat Frog was highly recommended and it didn’t disappoint. Good service with a menu for everyone. Eggs Benni Smashed avocado and for the serious breakfast the Fat Frog. Guarantee you won’t need to eat for the rest of the day. The quality of the smoked ham the color of the eggs and the sour dough was excellent. To top it off very affordable

The first time I have tried smashed avocado and it was superb. It came on sourdough toast with sweet cherry tomatoes, crumbled feta, rocket salad and a good drizzle of balsamic vinegar. I added a poached egg, a smart move. The presentation, flavours and textures were perfect and I savoured every mouthful, just as you do with fine dining. A large cappuccino completed our order.
As if this wasn't enough, we sat by an open window with lovely views of Cannonvale Beach, reading a choice of newspapers and magazines. Now I know why my friend wanted me to experience this fantastic place.

Great water front location in Cannonvale Qld. A bit of a class room feel and setup. Food and service average. I order the Fish and Chips but the fish was chalky tasting. Don’t order. At best 3 stars.

We recently had lunch here which was fantastic. Such a lovely setting looking over the beach.
There’s a great range of food on offer, including a kids menu. They also have a neat little kids area too.
Our lunch was delicious and filling and the service was fast and staff friendly.
The Fat Frog is located at the end of the Bicentennial walk, which was a welcome site for us, as we were thirsty and hungry!

We walked up to the Cafe from Airlie Beach along the boardwalk. We had been told the Fat Frog was a good place to eat and that was certainly true. The wait staff were so friendly and the expansive menu really good value, especially compared to the touristy prices in Airlie. Everything we had was excellent. Be aware that they do close at 2pm, almost caught us out there, shows the value of checking first.
