Homely family run farm kitchen and store. But be prepared to wait up to an hour for your meal! Although the melktert came quickly and was delicious.

We visited this restaurant - padstal a few times and always left a lot later than planned. Really good country food and home made cakes and tarts. Nice gifts and goodies and great paintings by local artists at very reasonable prices. Preferably book for Sunday lunch as the locals all gather to feast. Service is prompt and friendly in this... We had lunch there, and the food was tasty and freshly prepared. The gifts that they sell were original, hand made and well priced. Well worth a visit!

What a wonderful dining experience we had when visiting Algerynskraal Padstal on the Route 62 between Ladismith and Barrydale. Friendly and helpful management and staff. Interior is delightfully decorated with a blend between old farmhouse and new furnishings. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering options at most affordable rates. After a appetizing starter we enjoyed a wonderful traditional... More

Stopped for mid-morning coffee on the recommendation of the bed and breakfast we had stayed in the night before (Wolverfontein). Spotted the milk tart and had to try it - outstanding! Can wander through the house - an old "ostrich palace" and browse the well stocked shop. Did not have lunch but will do so next time we pass through... More

We tried to find three other restaurants in Ladismith, but they had all closed down! We then happened upon Algernyskraal. What a lucky find. We had tea and cheesecake - absolutely delicious. The house itself has many rooms crammed with beautiful gifts and farm produce. Well worth a visit.

This is a fairly new addition to Route 62 and with limited choices to eat in Ladismith, we opted to give this a try. The menu is basic but covers breakfast options along with burgers, salads and pies for lunch. The homemade chicken pie had a delicious pastry with a meaty filling and side salad. The owners have taken a... More

Roadtrip to Swartbergpas and passed the blue and yellow flags just before Ladismith. Hubby wondered if they serve lamb chops? Even better! Gemsbok Pie, rice anc 3 veg. And yummy grape juice. Took cheese cake and coffee cake for take away. Definitely a best kn our holiday so far. And hosts so friendly, feels like family.
