Visited Bakewell on our way to Chester and this place had been recommended to me by one of my friends who had eaten and stayed here previously - turned out to be a great tip! The place was busy but we were able to find a table quickly, the drinks selection was really good, and the food was great too,... More

Although you found a little gem Mikey0000, and we thank you for your kind words, please don't give the impression we are dog friendly - outside yes in the beer garden, but we don't allow dogs inside the Peacock. I don't want to sound rude or ungrateful, but I wouldn't like to think customers turn up to the Peacock with... More

After visiting Chatsworth all day, we went into Bakewell for dinner...we'd seen The Peacock while strolling around town the day before. The pub is very lovely inside and the bartenders and servers are extremely friendly. We were lucky enough to grab the last table...the place was packed! My husband had fish and chips and I ordered an egg salad sandwich... More

We visited The Peacock on a busy Saturday night, as as we walked in we realised we'd be lucky to find a table but luckily a waitress came up to us and sorted us a table within a few minutes and gave us menu's as well as pointing out the specials. It was pay as you go and order at... More

The staff here are lovely and even under very trying circumstances do their best, as I say in very stressful circumstances, and I guess that is sometimes the price to pay when the Peacock... More

The food was value for money, especially as we are all vegetarian. Good choice of vegetarian food on the menu. We weren't disappointed with the portion sizes either. Staff are friendly and attentive. We will definitely be coming again.

Visited here for the first time this week as we were in Bakewell and wanted somewhere nice to sit in the tea time sunshine. Yes the food is a little expensive for tea time food, but probably what I would expect in Bakewell. I had the fish finger sandwich (more like fish fillets) and my partner had the cheese steak... An average meal at an expensive price for a pub meal. The pie lacked seasoning and flavour. The portion size is large but a personal hate is food served on a wooden board, but all in different containers, little baskets and a pot--not easy to eat but looks good!

We've just spent a lovely few days in the peaks , Buxton , Hartington , Bakewell , Tissington etc and we've had some delicious meals in some really nice pubs & restaurants , however the creme de la creme was the Peacock ! Mike W - you are also of a deserving 11 outta 10 as you post an honest unassuming review of the wonderful food we know we serve at the Peacock, despite the views of Chairman Biw-n-liw who sits below you with his ignorance of the fantastic SFC we serve - yes 100% chicken breast with southern fried flavouring that for... My friends and I, all staying in Buxton on business decided to venture to Bakewell for dinner one evening. After wandering around the town we settled on The Peacock as the exterior was very inviting and the menu looked pleasant, although very expensive. Ok Biw-n-liw let's not cut to the chase here as your review is some what personal and vindictive from your perspective, not forgetting untruthful and this I assume as you think you are better than the rest of us as you condemn the Peacock - a traditional English Pub, note the word Pub, for not giving you table service and... Because of it's location this is a popular pub. However, the Landlord is more interested in filling his tables with people who wish to spend a fortune on his menu options, rather than those that wish to simply have a drink! On two occasions when ordering a significant round of drinks he was reluctant to serve and more interested in... More
