We had a lunchtime snack at the Cross Guns pub on New Year's Eve and were very disappointed with the standard of food. The mulled wine tasted like cheap warm wine with no added spices, the mushroom soup was revolting and inedible, the Brie and cranberry paninis were like eating jam with minimal Brie. We complained about the soup and... More

Use to come here many years ago, and read some slightly worrying reviews on here about it, but was pleasantly surprised, the burger was outstanding, the place was buzzing by 12.15pm glad we arrived as early as we did, would definitely go back, only down side was the toilets outside and they were very cold, I'm sure they were inside... Really nice pub right by the canal in Avoncliff. Walked here and were rewarded with a mulled cider and warm mince pie for only £3! Very nice interior, outside space also available.

We had a party of nine for a nice sunday lunch and when we showed up the place was packed. But they managed to somehow get us all in at a couple of tables. It was cold and rainy outside but the atmosphere inside was cozy and warm. The sunday roast was delicious and the pints of ale tasty. This... More

Poor quality food and £4.80 for a pint can see why out of the summer months the place like tonight is dead. Travel a little further to Bradford-on -Avon.

What a pity that this characterful pub is so lax in its attitude towards cleanliness. The tables in the restaurant are not properly cleaned: I saw the waitresses flicking them clear with their hands. The toilets are a disgrace. It's about time they had a least some soapy water treatment and a lick of paint although really they need refitting.... More

i visited here back in the summer and i know its not the pubs fault but to witness customers relieving themselves in the river at the bottom of the garden is very off putting and not nice to see! apart from that lovely pub, great views, nice place to have a drink between walks

We stopped here for a drink. The pub has a lot of charm and character inside the bar. The ceiling is covered in whisky water jugs which make quite an impressive display. The beer garden is at the from of the pub with quite steep steps leading down to the river. There are several levels with seating. However the seating... More

We drank here a couple of times during a three night stay up the road in Westwood. The pub was decent, all staff were helpful and friendly. The beer was good and well kept. The interior could use a but of a spruce up perhaps, but I have seen a lot worse. people were eating there whilst we were present... More
