We were told there was a 20 minute wait, and whilst some diners had an option of 2 menus, we were only given a choice of 1. After an hour, a waiter came with my "trio of pork and leek sausages with mash", which consisted of 2 pork sausages and a spoonful of mash... no peas or onions or gravy!... More

Called in on off chance of having Sunday lunch, was succesful in getting a table. Decided to have 2 course, starter and main course. Opted for the salmon and will fishcakes - disappointed when it arrived , didn't look or taste homemade. Beef main course and boy did it make up for the starter! Beef was tender, home made massive... Last minute evening out with friends and we arrived at The Boars Head. Lovely welcome from the kitchen staff. Not the fastest at delivering food but it was well worth waiting for. Had a mixture of main meals between us and all were cooked to perfection and delicious. Had a couple of desserts on our table which were also fab.... More

While on holiday we have taken the opportunity to visit lots of local eateries. This being one of our favourites. The steaks were very good and the mixed grill well worth the money. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Came for mothers day lunch and table booked for 12.30. Two starters came out just after 1pm and then waited another 40 mins for main course to arrive, taking that to over an hour for those that didn't have starters. Did notice we were not the only table being served slowly. Food then arrived with one wrong meal choice ,... More

Sunday roast with mountains of veg. Visited with lots of family and the back room is perfect with the kids area. Makes it very relaxed if you have little ones. The speed of service is a bit slow but very personable so just plan for a lazy afternoon and relax. Pudds - strawberry ice cream is great and the caramel... More

We were staying a few minutes away in Canaston Oaks and the owners there recommended this place. Great food (Chicken, Ham and leek pie and a lemon & herb crusted chicken). There was plenty of both. The onion rings ordered as a side were immense too. A special mention for our server Ryan Edmundson. Attentive without being over bearing. If... More

Two recent visits firstly Saturday night very busy. Food excellent but where is the manager. The staff very young and inexperienced and although very pleasant they seemed to be overwhelmed and you felt you wanted to get up and give them a hand. Second visit was a lunchtime and very quiet. No heating on so very cold. Food very good... More

Good value traditional Sunday lunch in pleasant surroundings. Attentive staff and plenty to eat with a fine selection of veg and perfect roast potatoes. What more could you ask for?
