Decent country pub and bistro serving lunch from 12-2pm daily. Good simple pub menu, meals were quick to come out even when they were busy, has a home cooked feel to the food and menu.
It’s a pub also with a small front bar area. The place has a lot of memorabilia on the walls, old photographs showing the history of pyengana. Well done.
We ordered the steak sandwich - mostly tender beef (cooked perfectly), tomato, lettuce and onion in between two white toasts slices. Served with a good serve of chips. Cold beer. All were good.
Open daily as a pub 11am-3pm. Popular with the locals who were in the front bar during our visit, nicely rowdy. Bistro seats about 40 inside and has tables outside. Nice view of the valley.

We had a great lunch here - battered gummy shark with chips and salad (delicious salad dressing), onion rings, beef burger, and crumbed flounder - all delicious. The Iron Pot Bay Tassie Pinot Noir was tasty too. They don’t have mains water so you can either buy their bottled water for $2.50 or you’re welcome to bring your own water. The place is decorated with old photos and funny saying on posters - very cute. The staff are super friendly and the service is quite quick. A really great experience.

We visited the pub and was very pleased with the food and the lass that served us was very friendly. However the older lady that was also serving was not very friendly and did not smile at all. We were a happy group of seniors but that did spoil our lunch.

$22 for a steak sandwich that was grey and tasteless and chips were undercooked. The place was busy but waiting 45 minutes for a pub meal is too long. I'll never eat there again. The place could do with a good scrub and it would have been great to be able to open the window to let all the blow flies out.

Around $23 for a chicken schnitzel with small salad and undercooked chips. Chicken schnitzel was not freshly made, pretty sure it was a heated up, precooked schnitzel like you find in the frozen or deli section of the supermarket (for around $2.50)
Interesting old building and history, but not really welcoming or good ambience. Wasn’t a memorable experience.

Rang to book a table, phone answered by a very rude woman. Arrived to a huge amount of people (no social distance or clear idea of where to sign in) points to a set of tables as where to sit, still not sure where our table was. Finally ordered from a very rude abrupt woman. Very over priced, very under cooked chips, my husband meal not only did they stuff up the order but had a deep fried fly on it 🤦♀️ $17 for a pie and a couple of chips. Never have I paid $11.50 for a glass of wine or be told that I had to buy a bottle of water then to forget to get my water and had to wait till she served 2 other people to get it with no apology. My brother in law's pami was a processed chicken schnitzel, my sister in law couldn't eat her chicken and it was so overpowering with pepper corns. Trying to swat flies away while trying to eat wasn't pleasant either. I have been a couple of times before now and haven't been impressed. I definitely won't be back!

So the famous pub in the paddock , ordered Roo patties with vegetables and gravy . Vegetables were minimal , deep fried potatoes not baked , hard pumpkin , bad cauliflower in cheeses sauce and flavourless carrots . Roo patties were unseasoned , overloaded with onion and covered in that damn bulk mix up gravy that adds a brown layer and no flavour .
People with me ordered chips , clearly frozen and not crisp , tasty or visually appealing at all.
Too expensive , maccas does better . Overrated , will not go there again .

Stopped for lunch on the way back from the falls. We have been there before and called in again to see the pig. The pub itself is a good old style country pub with a couple of lovely log fires. The lady that served us was very friendly. The food however was overpriced and not very nice. $22 for a steak sandwich between two bits of toast and $13 for cold undercooked potato wedges. The pig had a good feed of wedges when we left.

We were originally going to eat at the Pyengana Farm Gate Cafe but we arrived without a booking and it was packed - the only alternative was to sit outside in the cold & rain, so we drove onto the Pub in the Paddock.
The name aptly describes this place as it is exactly a pub in the middle of a large open paddock. We were lucky as we were one of the first guests to arrive for lunch and had a choice of tables near the fire. The pub itself is one of the oldest continually operating pubs in Tasmania (St Columba Falls Hotel), so it has an inherent old world charm - plenty of historical photos and stories.
The menu is fairly basic pub grub - fish & chips, schnitzel, parmigiana, steak. What did attract my attention however was the pork sausages and roo patties (something different). We both went with the pork sausages, they were real homemade rustic fare, absolutely delicious. Was a bit disappointed that there were no beers on tap only bottled beer and cider.
We missed out on seeing Priscilla the pig but the staff were flat out serving the incoming crowd that I didn't want to push them. If you are going to stop here for a meal I suggest that you select some of the home made food options.

My partner and I went on a little road trip from Devonport to see Pub in the Paddock today. The place looks lovely and the place has a beautiful rustic setting. However when we walked in a man asked if he could help (probably the owner who was taking orders and what not), & we asked if there was any tables available and he said lunch was only 12-2, that was fine and I said how it was a bummer because we had travelled all the way from Devonport (not in an angry way mind you), he then replies “well like I said lunch is 12-2 people have to knock off work at some stage and have a life you know”. I’m sorry but a simple “I’m really sorry about that at least you know now for next time hope you have a good rest of your day” would have been a lot nicer than the hostile reply I got. He then walked away after he said that. We left obviously.
We then drove to Shop in the Bush & was chatting away to the man behind the counter there & he told us 3 people that day had also complained about the customer service at Pub in the Paddock.
I was really excited & was sadly disappointed. Not because we couldn’t have a meal but because of the poor customer service.

We are locals who loved to visit the pub for their steak sandwiches. Sadly, after our last experience, we will not be back. The steak was only a minute steak, and it was cold. We paid the high price as they have been so good. When I asked if they had changed their butcher, I was told that is how steak sandwiches are...sorry not when you pay $29...
I gave 2 stars only for the amazing views.

After visiting the Pyengana Dairy next door, we stopped into this pub after hearing great reviews about the service, and of course Priscilla & Peppa, the beer drinking pigs (“special” brew with beer, water & their dinner slops).
The service WAS amazing - Keen to have a chat and tell us about nearby must sees.
Our daughter loves giving a beer to the pigs. Gold coin donation although not obligated to do.

the pub is in the middle of dairy farms - a lovely location. The facilities are tired - although new owners may upgrade things.
The food was OK, but a bit pricey for what it was - frozen pub schnitzels etc.
great to have a beer and a feed after walking to the St Columba falls.

Very impressed with the improvements the pub has made including local cider and beer on tap and a kitchen garden. Our group enjoyed the chicken schnitzel and a squid and chips. Overall a noticeable and welcome improvement in the food from the last time we visited in 2018. So much freshness on the plate!
Great service in a unique setting. Worth the detour.

This a very popular spot in a very rural area. It is quite close to a scenic waterfall and the automatic dairy.
The meal was really fresh and well prepared. Well worth the side trip to visit this venue. Highly recommendable.
