Incredibly friendly cafe with a pleasant outlook over the fields. Super clean, in fact they are fastidious in making sure everything is cleaned on a regular basis, so good to see during these Covid times. Very reasonably priced cheese platter at $15.00 giving a nice sample of lots of cheese. Yummy

A large group of us visited the Farm Gate Cafe on our way to St Columba Falls. On our arrival, it is obviously a popular stop-off. There is a wide range of cheese-based, local food on offer and the service and atmosphere was very good. A wider selection of pies would have helped but all in our party had a hearty meal. Recommended.

Thank you for the feedback, the pies are a new thing for us, they are proving to be a success and we will extend our offering as it gets busier. Glad you enjoyed your visit.

A nice little stop on the way to the Bay of Fires. And superb scenery enjoyed on the way there! What a gorgeous location! We thought the (prepacked) cheese tasting plate (essentially a little lunch box) was EXTREMELY good value for $12. About six large wedges of cheese! It was strange that they sold bottles of wine as well as cans of beer and bottles of cider, yet no wines by the glass, not even one type. Unfortunately we didn’t see one cow wandering in for self milking (only one exiting!) but it was great fun to at least visit the dairy that was the first to install a robotic milking system. Our quick cheese, coffee and icecream snack was a happy experience but I must say the woman who served us on arrival seemed to have trouble mustering a smile or any form of conversation :(

Hi, Thank you for stopping by to visit us. The cows come up on their own time so I am sorry there was none in the dairy at the time of your visit. We certainly do sell all our wines by the glass, as well as beers, cider, vodka and gin. Really pleased you enjoyed your cheese tasting plate.

I make sure to stop here whenever I visit Tasmania. The drive into Pyengana alone makes it worthwhile, one of the most idyllic places in the state. The cafe serves excellent meals, so I usually get lunch with the local cheese and meat plate. Then sit outside or by the window and enjoy the stunning views. Afterwards, it's worth strolling around to learn about the dairy and cheese making. I took my mother here this trip and she loved it!

It’s really sad, we have been coming to Tassie for 10 years and we always looked forward to coming to Pyengana for either breakfast or lunch and the opportunity to buy their great cheeses. Well unfortunately it’s gone from great to good to bad to just crap. We used to be able to get a nice meal, then apparently they were bought out and things went downhill from there. We went there last week and called to enquire as to what time they served breakfast, was told 0900, so we we there 0930 for, wait for it, meat pies, no breakfast menu, nothing. In addition the place was an absolute shambles, severely understaffed, customers making their own coffee, our coffee took over 40 minutes, and it was rubbish. I hate giving bad reviews but who ever runs this place needs a good kick up the clacker.

Thank you for visiting our Cafe, I am not sure you have reviewed the correct place, you can see from other reviews this is not the case, we have a breakfast menu daily till 11am, full English breakfast, eggs and bacon, fruit toast as well as the full menu from 9am. There is no way customers make their own coffee, you need to get your facts correct before making negative reviews. I am sorry if you had to wait for your coffee but it was obviously a busy day.

This dairy farm and shop was amazing! We visited here for afternoon tea after a quick trip up the road to the falls. We got a very large biscuit (cow pattie), wine, cheese platter, ice creams and the most beautiful cheese and chive scones to die for!!!! I highly recommend coming here for a drink and nibble. There is outdoor seating which looks over the farm and you can see the cows going in for milking at their leisure.

This was a surprise find for us. Set in a beautiful rural farm setting, this cafe is part the Pyengana Dairy. We had decided to visit and buy some cheese but when we saw the menu we decided to stay for lunch. We ordered a cheese platter for one and it was no problems when we asked to share this. This platter included goats cheese, several different cheeses, pickled onions, small cheese tomato and lettuce salad, relish, butter, 2 slices of toasted sourdough and 2 slices of ham. It was absolutely delicious and all for $18. Coffee was good too.

Stopped here for morning tea, but with the size of our 'snacks', then didn't need to have lunch. Had the cheese platter, excellent value at $15 and featuring all their own cheeses except for the fetta, as well as the scones with cream and jam. Both excellent, as was the coffee. They also sell cheeses, ice creams along with other dairy products as well many other local souvenirs. Lovely pastoral view from the deck, too.

We went have lunch , ordered coffees , soup of the day and toaster , lady serving asked about our day , we said we had been doing some of the walks in the area. She was very helpful in directing us to some of the walks we hadn’t done , took plenty of time to explain where to go . Not long and our very good coffee and food came.

The cheese factory is fascinating, the shop is brilliant with all the different cheese types to taste, but the cafe was a massive dissapointment. My wife ordered cheese on toast with extra tomato. You would think the toast would be overflowing with tasty melted cheese, but unfortunately it was the complete opposite. The most tasty thing on the plate was the little pot of tomato relish! We were close to sending it back. I ordered the cauliflower and cheese soup. The portion size was great, I could certainly taste the cauliflower (which was a little on the watery side), but again there was hardly any cheese flavour. Come on Pyengana, this is your chance to showcase your products, so don't hold back with the cheese. Would I return - NO

Along the road to St Columbus Falls you will pass by the Pyengana Dairy, make sure you stop in here. It's a running dairy with an attached cheese making factory and sitting at the entrance and literally on top of the cheese larder is the most wonderful cafe. The amazingly friendly and courteous staff great and make you feel so welcome. We tried the coffee and cake special and indulged in the incredible cheesecake (all dairy ingredients are straight off the farm). The cream was an experience on its own. The coffees were superb. This is a must do stop if driving around north eastern Tasmania. Well done, and thank you to the staff.

This is a dairy farm that has expanded to include a sizeable cafe area with terrace, from where one can watch the cows come in to be milked as and when they like, for they are microchipped to enter and leave. This is quite entertaining watching different gates opening and closing. The place was quite busy at lunch time, staff were friendly and helpful. I had cauliflower soup which was a good average. The tasting counter was very generous as there were a number of varieties to choose to taste. The shop area sold other cheeses than their own and a number of interesting delicatessen items. One could look through windows and see the cheeses being pressed in the dairy. A good tourist stop, and for locals too.

We stumbled across this place and thought we would stop for a coffee. It’s a dairy farm / cafe . They served great coffee. There was cheese tasting and you could see the cheese being made (not while we were there). The cows are just out the back and it was interesting to see how they have automated the milking process. This was a nice little stop that appeared in the middle of nowhere.
