Popped in here for tea with our two young daughters. Amazing food! Haven't had food this tasty in a pub for years. Would quite happily travel an hour again to get here just to have something nice. Staff were lovely, Sandra serving the food was a bit bonkers, but that was probably the icing on the cake for me.Amazing service,... More

We visited The Wheatsheaf twice during our stay, once for a meal from the standard menu and once for the Sunday lunch. The layout of the pub is a little unusual, with the restaurant up a fairly steep staircase. The door to the Gents is also "interesting". The staff coped well with our party - with eight of us for... Called in Sunday evening and was surprised how quiet it was, a couple of locals drinking at the bar. Staff were friendly but we only had a choice of Sunday Roast, think they may be missing out here. Would have tried another evening but no food on Monday or Tuesday evenings. Good point was the Doom Bar which was well... More

Stayed overnight for a family party. Party was well organised and buffet food was good and plentiful. Room was basic and very cold and the bed was really hard. Also, church clock striking every hour was quite disturbing so did not sleep well. Breakfast was good except for the coffee but dining room was very cold.

We were staying at the Coach House opposite and had read the reviews for a dog friendly pub. It was indeed, and the food was good too. Excellent fillet steak. Sadly the mushroom stroganoff was off although the veggie lesagne was tasty. Locals were friendly.

We visited for lunch. The bar was empty and seemed cold ( there was a fireplace but no fire). The restaurant had been re decorated and was clean and light. The set lunch menu had several choices in each course. Service was very slow although the restaurant was by no means full. The soup and roast beef were OK but... More

This used to be such a fun lively pub with a very good restaurant - how times have changed. We entered the cold bar, only ash was left from the previous evening's fire, to be told rather frostily that we were early but this shouldn't have been a problem as there was absolutely no-one in the bar and a solitary... Fourteen people and four dogs didn't phase the staff at the Wheatsheaf Inn, we all had a great meal. Lots of choice on the menu and take away pizza available if needed. Warm and friendly staff made it a lovely evening out.
