Stayed for a couple of nights in this historic pub. There are lovely old photos and bits and bobs everywhere. Loved the residents lounge. The food was fantastic and freshly cooked as were the breakfasts. Usual pub menu, but would have liked a choice of lighter meals in the evening, salad, new potatoes, quiche etc would be great. The room was rather... More

We'd been sightseeing locally at the "Break Its Neck Falls" (just along the A44 road), when we decided to search for a local restaurant for lunch. This was the first one we came across and decided to pull in. Ample car parking space. Friendly, helpful staff greeted us. We sat in the conservatory to have our lovely meals. I had... More

New owners, fresh décor inside, warm welcome and perfect food. Lovely couple now running this old established pub. It deserves a visit. Menu is wide and caters for everyone, and they are so kind and helpful. We will be back, and bringing friends to enjoy the welcome at the Red Lion

Staying at a nearby caravan site who recommended this cosy little restaurant. Recently under new management who were all lovely and very welcoming. Great potential for the new owners and feel that their new ideas of takeaways to local caravan sites is a fantastic idea. Menu was limited so be nice to see over time this expands as the food... First off the four stars are not a five as I did not stay over in one of the rooms so can't give an overall review. That said if the rooms are like the rest of the pub five stars would prevail. Great friendly welcome, good food and well kept beer. Clean and tidy. Second visit here and it won't... More

We stayed here for one evening as it was getting quite late. They had one room left so we were very lucky. The welcome that we received from all of the staff was outstanding and this was the standard throughout our stay. The new owners took over about 8 weeks ago and they are making changes so most of the... More

Called here at the end of a long journey and a frustrating experience at another hotel/pub. Initially food had stopped being served. However, the owners were sympathetic to our dilemma and two well cooked steaks arrived very quickly. The chef was very friendly and we had a lovely chat before he served his wonderful strawberry meringue. Will definitely be back... More
