MICHELIN Guide's Point of View

This remote inn dates from the 1760s, and its somewhat modest façade gives little indication as to the charm and character that lies within. The bar is...

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing! What a superb restaurant, worthy of a Michelin Star. Every single element of our dinner was exceptional. This was definitely the best meal I have ever had surpassing a few Michelin star restaurants I've also eaten in. Also thank you so much to all...the staff who were attentive, smiling and nothing was too much trouble. A very special evening! We had also booked rooms for the night that were excellent too. Can't wait to go back.More

We booked dinner here at the last minute having just gotten engaged and wanting to eat somewhere a little bit special, we were lucky to get a last minute reservation and it was certainly more than a little bit special. Not really knowing what to...expect, we had a drink in the quaint and rustic pub attached, before being led into the dining room which was buzzing with atmosphere. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive, and from start to finish the food was incredible. I can’t highlight one dish in particular because they were all delicious. I really can’t recommend this restaurant enough and next time we will be booking in advance!!More

We enjoyed the Olde Glen Bar restaurant so much on our first visit last year that we made a special detour in our golf trip this year to spend three nights at Clara's Cots, the B&B next door to the Olde Glen. It was terrific,...by the way. We knew how good the food was here, so we booked three dinners on consecutive nights. We almost skipped one night when we found out there was a more expensive special tasting/wine pairing menu. But we came to our senses and were able to get a table for that as well. I can't say enough about the overall dining experience at the Olde Glen. The food is among the best I have ever eaten and it is consistently that good. The guest chef from Dublin on the night of the tasting menu prepared excellent dishes, but no better than the usual fare prepared by Ciaran and served up by the excellent staff led by Cormac. The man and woman who handled the wine pairings for the evening were delightful and generous in their pours! I only wish I didn't have to get onto a plane and fly across the Atlantic to get there, otherwise I would be a regular! Thanks so much for being the highlight of this year's trip.More

From the outside it has character but nothing to prepare you for the glorious atmosphere, service and food that awaits within. I told my local hosts that this was one of the best meals we have ever had in sixty years of dining out including...top venues in London. Truly exceptional food with a sublime service from charming young waitresses. How I wish it was nearer to home.More

We were all truly impressed by the whole Glen experience. Thanks to Aengus, Cormac and the entire...team for looking after us. See you again soon!More

My name is Róise and I had to write this. Went for dinner Sunday night at the Olde Glen Bar. The meal was just fantastic it was tasty the flavours were unbelievable even the carrots and potatoes were so flavoursome just fantastic. This is a...restaurant nestled in the valley of Glen Village owned by restaurateur Cormac Walsh. The chef Ciaran Sweeney is a renowned celebrity chef. That is obvious from the food he serves. The flavours he adds to the food makes it different so delicious and tasty. This is a special treat and I would recommend you pay it a visit although booking is essential. Well done Ciaran and CormacMore

Omg simply the best meal we’ve ever had. Beats all top class restaurants in London ie Ramsays, Turners, Gavroche etc. The flavours are unbelievable- we live in London but we’ve never had such a tasty meal. Staff and ambiance to die for. Bar at the...front lovely for a welcoming drink, oldie worldie bar you cannot beat. Honestly I could not fault it in any way. My cousin Kathy farrell booked it for us, thanks Kathy - we will definitely be back. Yummy!More

Best meal we've ever had not just in Ireland but worldwide. Those chefs are something else with their attention to detail and then there's Cormac. Only been there for the 1st time but Cormac was funny and offered top class service. Can not wait to...go back with my husband. Thanks again Cormac and team. CatherineMore

These guys are not chefs of any kind they are flavour wizards!! Every detail, flavour, texture match and twist throws your tastebuds into a fireworks on the palate!!! Yes in Donegal and yes well worth the visit as it’s very special in ambience, service, pace...that the dishes are served and with special tasting surprises provided between the food that you have ordered. This is Michelin star ⭐️ and all is very well presented but you will be full after your visit which is great. They present some special on the night from the local producers from field & sea 🌊 depending on the session. Connor is the owner and has an eye for detail and remembers you if you have visitors before and can guide you on some recommendations you may want to try and match with great wines. A evening to remember and talk about.More

One of the best meals I've had in a very long time - on a par with michelin starred restaurants. Food and service top notch. Bit of a hike to get there but well worth the journey. Congratulations to all involved
