I was out for a walk in the area and met 'Sid' along the way. I mentioned I was going to stop for lunch in Calver and he said that for good food and beer he would recommend the Derwentwater Arms. He wasn't wrong. Thanks for the directions Sid and thanks for a pleasant lunch time break Sarah.

We stayed in the cottage next to the pub. The accommodation is first class, spacious, well-equipped and dog friendly (as is the pub). Great location, great food in the pub/restaurant and really helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff. General store and coffee shop within easy walking distance. We will definitely be back.

Holidaying in The Peak District in February and chose this pub as a meeting point with friends also travelling. Plenty of easy parking, homely and comfortable atmosphere. Attentive, relaxed service, very dog friendly. Great food at a very reasonable price, would definitely visit again and recommend to like minded visitors in this beautiful part of the country

If you enjoy having a big walk and settling down to a well earned good pub meal and drink this ones for you. The atmosphere is lovely, packed full of regulars but without the cliqueiness, always... Took my wife, my 99 year old neighbour and my well-behaved boxer dog for a drive on New Year's Monday. Quite by chance we turned down a small road from the traffic lights at Calver instead of heading back to Buxton, and stopped in the car park below the Derwentwater Arms - so I could let Henry (my boxer dog)... Met up with friends and this pub was the perfect setting. We varied from adults who like good food to teenage boys with a love of pizza. The pub was able to meet everybody's needs with a pizza menu as well as a blackboard menu covering a wide variety of meals, many of which were also available as light bite... More

On a recent visit to Chatsworth House, we rented a cottage in Calver, which put us within a one hundred yard stroll of the Derwentwater Arms. Purched at the top of the village, the pub affords a warm welcome. A very pleasant oak panelled lounge bar with modern extension attached greet you upon entering. The menu has a nice mix... More
