About
Ethnic Indian Cuisine Restaurant in Sarnia, Ontario. Sitara, home of authentic Indian cuisine, is a full service dine in, take out, and catering East Indian Restaurant in Sarnia/Lambton County and Port Huron area. Sitara excels in the best-kept secret about Indian food that is aroma and flavors. Curry flavors make East Indian Cuisine one of the very best on Earth. Indian food is essentially very healthy and is traditionally cooked using a variety of naturally grown curry spices and herbs. Sitara staff use only Canola oil and locally grown fresh produce from the local Farmer’s Market.Vegetarian, Vegan, or Gluten Free Diet? No problem. Sitara carries a wide variety of vegetarian curry selections. Lentils, chickpeas, and assorted variety of fresh vegetables are prepared in curry sauces. Lentils and Chickpeas are very high in protein. Paneer, a soft and light Indian cheese made from cows milk adds aroma and flavor to the curries and is high in protein. Sitara chefs specialize in cooking vegan dishes that are equally tasty without the use of meats, dairy, oils and fats. Sitara menu is 98% gluten free with the exception of bread, samosa's, and a dsert Gulab Jamun. Let our waiting staff know that you prefer Gluten Free diet and our staff will make sure that your food is gluten or wheat flour free. Sitara is a fully licensed Indian Food Restaurant. We serve domestic red and white wine, domestic beer, imported beer, and the classic Indian beer, King Fisher. King Fisher is very popular in North America, Europe, and India. Hard liquor and mixed drinks are also available.

I've been to this restaurant several times and every time it has been consistently delicious. Fortunately, the road construction at this location is almost complete and it is easier to get to. The wait staff is very attentive and the wine choices, while somewhat limited, are very good. All the normal mainstays (butter chicken, chicken tika, lamb biryani etc.) are quite tasty and the chef will customize the level of spice to your liking. The fish pakora is my favorite appetizer and is always very fresh tasting. The garlic naan is the best I have ever had and I frequent a number of Indian food restaurants both in Sarnia and in the US. Give it a try if you haven't, you won't be disappointed!!

Manjiit and his team never fail to deliver excellent food and service. We’ve dined in many Indian restaurants in the USA and Australia, and Sitara is at the very top of our list for quality and authenticity. Sitara is the area’s gemstone. F you think you might not like Indian, or you aren’t sure what to choose, Manjiit and his team will help you select something for your taste.

It's great that the restaurant offers a North American breakfast in addition to East Indian-style cuisine so that diners with different tastes have something to enjoy when dining together. What I love the most about the menu though is how much variety it offers vegans, including vegan children. The staff is very friendly and accomodating not only in terms of special dietary requirements, but also in terms of the patience and warmth needed to serve families with young children.

We typically eat here during our annual Sarnia trip. We hadn't gone in awhile because of the COVID restrictions. This place has been excellent in the past. The last time we got carry out. There were NO customers in the restaurant and this was at 6:00 PM!! The Chicken Vidalu was awful. Basically what I was given was a shallow bowl of soup with five pieces of meat. Chicken Vindalu should never be that watery. Also, what we were charged is NOT what is shown in the menu (and the counter woman said nothing about the price difference). So, basically I paid $17 for a terrible bowl of soup. We will not be returning. No wonder there are no customers!!

Thank you! A lot has changed since covid. We now have a new location in Point Edward as well and London rd location is primarily for takeout. What has not changed is the quality and quantity of food. There are at least 8 to 10 pieces of chicken or lamb in each dish and sometimes even more if the size of the pieces is small. Vindaloo actually has a bit of thinner sauce compared to other dishes like butter chicken. We are sorry that we did not live to your expectations. But we will continue to work very hard to serve our guest the best way and we do continue to be busy and Sitara will not go downhill as long as I am at the helm. Regards! Sitara Indian Cuisine

When did the London Road restaurant become take out only? I was very disappointed with the dinner I had ordered for New Year’s Eve. I ordered the day before so that they had plenty of notice, I bought a good bottle of wine that would compliment the spices in the food and I picked up early to avoid the busy time. When I picked up the food the staff were very competent, my order was correct, I paid quickly and was on my way. When I got home a few minutes later, my husband and I sat right down to eat. The food was tepid, the yogurt raita was room temperature. The lamb biryani was so salty we couldn’t eat it and threw it out. The vegetable samosas were tasty but cold, butter chicken did not have the richness of a nice simmered sauce. The other dishes were tasty but our much anticipated dinner was very disappointing and I will not return.

I apologise for the late response. Thank you for ordering food from Sitara Indian Cuisine restaurant London Rd and thank you for taking your time to write the review. We really appreciate it. However, we are disappointed that we did not live to our standards especially with raita being warm and samosa's being cold. This is totally unacceptable. Biryani should not have been salty either. We have had few more complaints about biryani and we are continuing to fix it. We have purchased our own building in Point Edward and we have moved our dining there. In Point Edward the building is very beautiful, bigger, has a large size patio, and ample parking with a lot easier access. No excuses but we went through a lengthy transition, adding both Indian and Canadian breakfast to our menu in Point Edward. Our original plan was to close London Rd location but it continued to be very busy. Therefore, the decision was made to keep it going and train more staff. We added new staff and that may have added to some of the shortcomings with your meal. So definitely some deficiencies as a result of these challenges. But we are very happy to report that the staff are doing very well now and there should not be any further issues with the food. As always, we take our food and service very seriously. You will definitely see a number of positive changes. Please try our dine in Point Edward and at Petrolia as well. And yes your next meal will be on us. Just let the staff know with some reference to your New Year's Eve experience. Kind regards! Sitara Indian Cuisine

We had the most wonderful positive experience at Sitara Petrolia Ont. We have ordered take out in the past but this was our first time dinning at the restaurant. We sat outside on a patio table. The waitress greeted us with excellent customer service. She was very nice and attentive. We told her that we just left another restaurant in town to come here because we were waiting for a long time and no one came over to even greet or offer us water. It was a half hour wait there. But Sitara showed us that we were important customers by welcoming us with open arms. We were all very hungry. We were pleasantly surprised to get a delightful appetizer on the house! Our food came in a decent time. Big portion. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious! The best butter chicken we've had! The lamb vindaloo was full of flavours and so spicy good! We also had some shrimp masala which was amazing! And the naan was so garlicky and fresh! Great beer also, by the way! Overall very satisfied customers! Heads off the the Chef and amazing customer service by our waitress. We will be back for sure! Thank you Sitara Petrolia for making our evening a wonderful time!

Was our first time eating at Sitara in Point Edward as we were driving through from Michigan and we’re so glad we did! Both the food and the service were wonderful. The staff there is so friendly and they took the time to make sure our experience and meals were meeting our expectations. My husband and I started off with the onion bhajia and fish pakora. Both appetizers were really good and the fish pakora was so fresh and had just the right amount of curry spice. Needless to say we gobbled them up quickly. For our main meal I had the Korma Lamb and my husband had the Madras Lamb. The curry sauces were fresh and delicious and the lamb was so tender and good. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of lamb in the dishes. It was so good! We also had the garlic naan and basmati rice and they complimented the dinner wonderfully. For drinks, I had the mango lassi and the staff recommended for my husband to try the Cheetah mango beer and he ended up having 2 glasses because he enjoyed it so much! Thank you Sitara for the wonderful food and service! I highly recommend stopping in if you have a craving for fresh delicious Indian food! We definitely will be!

Usually indian food is amazing. However found this very mediocre. Samosas need help and Chicken biryani was dry. I guess if your from here and your used to our local chinese you think it's great ! But it's not. Maybe they think we're stupid but I've had indian food my whole life from London England to Delhi!! And this is mediocre. Get an indian chef to sort this out. Was really hoping for good indian. Not the McDonalds version.

It was a wonderful experience. Food was yummy and best part was we were attended by the owner as we were there for the first time. He was offering suggestions to all the new bees to try out the delicacies there. Overall nice ambience and good quality food experience.

We dined at the new Pt. Edward location. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food delicious. We had the Fish Pakora as an app, followed by Lamb Masalla and Butter Chicken... lots of food! We tried the Sitara house Ale on tap, and it was served in a chilled glass. Very nice flavour. 2 suggestions: 1) For an improved atmosphere they should have appropriate dining music (they had a low-playing radio on at the time). 2) They took this location over from a steakhouse, and the cow horns on the wall seemed out of keeping with Indian Cuisine. Also, the light fixture in our booth was missing a globe - a minor detail, but nonetheless, fixing it would add to the presentability of the decor. White masking tape was holding rugs in place on the floor and this looked unkempt. Nonetheless, we give them high marks for a cheerful and gregarious host, and good food and service.

Thank you Mary for dining at Sitara Indian Cuisine restaurant Point Edward and thank you for taking your time to review Sitara on Google. I am so sorry for the late response. We really appreciate the detailed review. And we really appreciate you pointing out some of the deficiencies. To update you, music has been fixed. We usually play contemporary Canadian music for breakfsat and Indian music mostly melodies from 1980's for late lunch and dinner. The bull horns are gone and decore has been added to enhance Indian culture. Our plan is to replace the carpet in the future but these lockdowns and restrictions make it difficult to move forward with full confidence. We really appreiciate you dining at Sitara and you will continue to see many improvements as we complete this transition to this location.

Delicious, hot Indian cuisine that was ready on time for pickup. Staff even included a special Indian dessert when they realized it was for a special occasion. Thank you to the staff for making this another tasty dining experience. We highly recommend Sitara restaurant.

The moment one walks into the door of Sitara at either the London Road or Cromwell Street location they are greeted with kindness by either the owner or any staff member. The food is authentic Indian cuisine that will impress your taste buds. The service matches the food and the Sitara restaurant goes above and beyond to make your experience a positive, enjoy and memorable one.

I’ve reviewed this place before but I feel it deserves an update. Absolutely amazing. If I could give Sitara 10 stars I would. Got the Lamb Vindaloo and Shrimp Korma, garlic naan, rice, and samosas. We originally forgot to add rice to our order (our own fault) and when we went back to buy some more rice they were very apologetic and didn’t charge us for it. The customer service is above and beyond. The flavour of the food is top notch. This has to be one of the best places to eat in Sarnia. Can’t wait for our next visit!

The restaurant has recently moved to this larger building that affords an outdoor patio setting or tables inside. It has a welcoming atmosphere and the food is exceptional. It is served hot, efficiently and just the right amount of spice. The owner came by twice to see how our meal was and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

In honour of National TakeOut Day, I ordered the Paneer Pakora and the Lamb Masala thru Skip The Dishes. The price was a smidge high but the food was off the charts delicious. It was prepared and delivered in no time. It was still temperature hot when I took my first bite! I am absolutely recommending this place!
