We had been to the Box before and were not overly impressed but as it is within walking distance and has a view of the beach we decided to try one more time. We arrived a few minutes early and waited for ten minutes to...be seated and then another 30 minutes before our were orders taken. We ordered pre lunch drinks, entrees, mains and wine. Meanwhile other patrons nearby who had arrived after us were already being served. We waited a further hour when all that we had ordered was delivered at the same time on a table that could hardly hold the prelunch drinks! As we had already been waiting over an hour we chose to have our pre lunch drink and entrees and asked that the waitress return the mains to the kitchen to be served later. The waitress was not happy but complied. I had ordered mussels for an entree and a bowl for the shells arrived as I was finishing them! The mains arrived as did the bottle of wine we had ordered an hour before. The restaurant was now closing! The food was very ordinary and the service non existent except for one young male waiter who tried to correct the situation without success. It appears that the management of this restaurant are totally inadequate and they cannot organise their staff who do seem to be keen but lack guidance.More

By far the best thing about "The Box on the Water" is the view. After 4 years of living 2 blocks away, I finally came for Saturday lunch mixed results. The paella was reportedly good while the 12 hour Brisket Burger was a disappointment. The...brisket was unpleasantly fatty and sliced rather than shredded making for an oily mouthfeel. I think a $26 sandwich should deliver a much better experience. The $15 children's menu included a drink and ice cream (which was not offered or served). When I made the booking for 12:30 I was told we could only stay until 1:45 which I reluctantly accepted. This may be a frequent occurrence as 5 more tables were seated after us. (Possibly a marketing attempt at double lunch sittings?) BTW, the breakfast menu looks wonderful. My advice would be to come for breakfast, book in advance and watch out for the table time limit.More

I visited the restaurant with my wife and close friends over Easter. I found the food to be very good but the highlight was the staff who were so friendly and efficient in their work. The views are also a highlight and would certainly visit...again.More

A lovely place to sit and look out to bobbing boats, kayakers, dog walkers etc. Healthy Hardy breakfast recommended. Very popular so a booking suggested. Parking available close by.

We had the Degustation Menu & it is fantastic! Loved every single dish. If you have the time I highly recommend it & do the matching wines. Our waitress was very friendly & knowledgeable. Don’t book to late as they may start packing up around...you & unfortunately, we couldn’t get another delicious cocktail after our lunch. When booking be sure to ask what time they close. Enjoy 😃More

I must state this is the takeaway hole in the wall and not the full table service side. My wife and I just felt like sharing a burger chips and soft drink. So we ordered one of each to share. It was a little odd...as the burger patty must have had all the love as all the other components seemed very unloved. The chips were well over cooked, past crispy to the point of shattering, the can of coke barely chilled, the whole burger was lathered in what seemed like bulk bought American mustard, the iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and red onion were just coarsely piled/thrown together so that it all fell out upon the first bite, the bun was bordering on stale and the request to have the bun cut in half completely ignored. All this for $21 and no chairs to be had (covid I suppose). Maybe it was just a bad day because as mentioned earlier the actual beef patty was a very good example of what the heart of a burger should be like.More

I had the burger and mum had the salmon. It was delicious. The prices are high but the food makes it worth it. Will be back!

Read some really good reviews so we tried this for breakfast. Positive comments great position and very friendly staff. Had to ask for sugar for the Coffee which was not very hot so mentioned this when asked and was offered a replacement which I thought...was nice, but replacement never came. Ordered the lion Island $26 big breakfast, but disappointed only 1 slice of toast and 1 small rasher of bacon. Needed to green the attention of the waitress for some salt and pepper. Paid the bill which appeared expensive in checking the waitress apologised as we had been given someone else's bill $25 more. She very happily did a credit between the two bill prices. Don't think I will return.More
