Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the 4th time we have been this glorious restaurant since 2017. It has never failed to deliver. Excellent menu. Impeccable service. Outstanding location. This time we went early evening so we could watch the water as the sun went down.. truly stunning. Will...definitely be back next time we visit Woy Woy from the UK. XMore

Lovely beachfront restaurant. Delicious food, cooked to perfection. Wait staff attentive but not intrusive. Could do with a couple of fans, but otherwise no issues.

We dined at this restaurant as a couple for dinner. We ordered two seafood paellas at $39 each. Found the meals very watery, small serves (we ordered large main serves) and lacking flavour. Seafood was limited to 4 mussels and 3 prawns. Chorizo was tough...and lacked the smokey flavour of quality chorizo. Ordered the crème brûlée for dessert. Top of the brûlée offered a good crack but the custard was again very runny and the addition of the baileys cream didn’t really improve on the original version. All in all $150 for 2 mains, 1 dessert and one of the cheaper bottles of wine wasn’t great value for the quantity and quality of the food we received. Service was fine but not great - we had to refresh our own wine glasses during dinner. The restaurant’s amazing water views can’t outweigh an ordinary meal unfortunately. Disappointing, as we have been here several times over recent years and this was undoubtedly the least impressive food we’ve had.More

The Box has one of the most spectacular restaurant views around. We had lunch and I must say, very reasonably priced for fantastic fish and chips which most of our group ordered. The desserts were also excellent. All I can end with is … get...a booking and go!More

Wonderful menu, service and view for a birthday lunch. Seafood was fresh and deliciously prepared. Why travel for maritime views when we have the Central Coast!

We had the time experience for our daughter’s Birthday here at the Box on the Water. This great Restaurant has the best ambiance is the most tastiest food. It has left the best impression on us all. The staff are wonderful and they certainly enjoy...working here. Mel was very welcoming and made us all feel comfortable. She was very friendly and professional, a true credit to the Management. We enjoyed a great culinary experience of tasty fresh seafood… Barramundi and oysters, mussels and anchovies. these meals were beautifully presented, and we were most impressed with the wide wine list. I am very happy to recommend The Box on the Water to everyone. We will certainly be coming back here again and again.More

Totally felt a bitter taste in my mouth when the lady at the end asked if i would like to tip! This is AUSTRALIA! Paying $47 for a piece of barra should be enough! You would of got five star, but due to the fact...you quite blatantly made sure i knew where the tip button was, and asked if i would like to, and then when i said no, you screwed up your face and ripped me off the machine receipt, you get a 4 star. The Barra was great, fresh, and the sweet potato mash that it came with was also very creamy and tasty ! Very nice indeed! Paired with the recommended wine of choice on the menu, and it was a good choice. The duck live pate wasn't our favourite, and being served with two chunky bits of bread, wasn't the best presentation. Butter with the bread would of been better which we asked for, and it was O-K. Service at the table was good, good view of the water, chilled atmosphere and plenty of people kicking back having a feed and enjoying the sunshine. Overall not a bad spot for a feed, pricey, but the tip suggestion totally annoys me, and you're not the first venue trying to push a tip onto customers! Hate it!More

I wasn't sure if he expected me to eat the icecream with my fingers? service 6.5/10 some of the servers were good, some not so good food, mineral water & affogato $68 small plates big prices $$$More

We were looking for a fine dining restaurant with water views on the Central Coast to celebrate my youngest daughter’s birthday and this restaurant ticked all the boxes! The restaurant is located on the foreshore overlooking Botany Bay. You must book. We dined outside overlooking...Botany Bay , but it was very windy, so we moved inside when a table became available! It has a limited food and drinks menu, highly recommend the A la carte menu. Good service.More
