Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We only discovered Billy Goat a few months ago, but we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every visit for lunch. The service is friendly and attentive, without being overly so, and the food is absolutely delicious. We’ve fallen into the habit of ordering the risotto and steak sandwich...(ultimate comfort food!) and pair it with a glass of local Coldstream Chardonnay (I always love when cafes and restaurants support their local wineries). Very much looking forward to our next visit.More

I think I've found the very best brownies in the world ..... and I've tasted brownies in every continent! Since living back in Melbourne this year, I've dropped in at Billy Goat Hill to buy the Brownies takeaway. But last week I went to dine...in with my wife and son and was not disappointed. The food was superb, atmosphere great and staff were friendly and helpful. Billy Goat Hill is a definite must visit in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.More

Regular attendees over a number of years. We decided to meet again at Billy Goat Brasserie. We had an issue with the fruit loaf. But we kept it to ourselves as we didn’t want to be in a negative mindset. At the counter when paying....We mentioned that the outside of the fruit loaf was badly burnt and we didn’t enjoy it. We had to cut off the sides as they were charred. We let it go. However, when we mentioned it to the counter staff, the lady was rude and obnoxious. She explained that we should of mentioned it to the waitress. Her defence was her customers like it that way. The burnt fruit loaf wasn’t the issue. Rather the rude way we were treated when quietly mentioning it. We won’t be back.More

We have been here a few times for breakfast. We walk along the Warburton trail stop in for breakfast and then walk back. They have seats out the front so we can take the dog. The food is awesome (I always get the Mexican Breaky...which is to die for), coffee fantastic and service is excellent. By far my favourite breakfast spot.More

We went for breakfast. Sat outside with our dog, in the sunshine behind the herb boxes. Service was excellent and the food was wonderful. Perfect for a Sunday morning breaky, dog in toe in the sun

Staff were extremely helpful. The gnocchi was probably one of the best I've ever eaten. My husband chose Nasi Goreng and said he would definitely return just for this meal alone. Would definitely recommend.

Had brunch here today and OMG it is the best place around. Staff super friendly and cheerful which is welcoming especially at this crazy time of year .food is the best, great sized meals and the coffee is awesome- exactly how it was ordered. 1/4...strength but hot. Take away shortbread was meant to be for a hamper .... hmm that's not going to happen unless I revisit next week to get another bag .More

Staff were excellent with consideration for seating the little ones with us and flexibility of menu options. Sourdough bread was very good, portion sizes generous and the coffee also very good. However good it is, this isnt a cheap place to eat. $29 for Nasi...Goreng? Thats a lot of money for special fried rice with an egg. Did enjoy it and would probably return.More

Had been here previously with a friend and found it nice but today’s visit left a lot to be desired. Staff were courteous and prompt. The bottle of water brought to the table was visibly dirty and had what I can only assume was algae...growing in it ... murkier towards the bottom with a brown film. Coffee was nice and hot but it was weak in flavour yet bitter as though the beans had been scorched. It is not like me to leave a drop of coffee in a cup, but I walked away from half of it. My eggs on toast with bacon and spinach was also a let down. Everything was extremely salty and once again scorched. Bacon was dry and burnt around edges leaving it like cardboard in texture. The spinach had been wilted and was also scorched in places once again causing a bitter taste. The bread was barely toasted and not buttered so was dry and extra chewy instead of crunchy toast as menu described. Won’t be returning.More

Dropped in for a morning coffee and scones. Coffee was nice and scones are always a winner in my book. My girlfriends Chai was great, came out in a pot and a little pack of honey to use at convenience - such a good experience...compared to other standard places. Atmosphere was nice and the staff were super friendly.More
