Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The entrance is unassuming, but once inside, you find a long counter with display cabinets of cakes, savoury pastries, and pre-made sandwiches that goes the full length of the shop. I walked up and down unable to make up my mind. I selected a cake to go with my coffee, both were very good, and resolved to come back with friends to explore the place in more detail. The internal and external seating is quite extensive and I was able to relax and read their daily newspapers.

I wanted to thank Pelligra Cakes. I ordered the Butterfly Dreams chocolate mud cake and it was amazing by far the best mud cake I have eaten ever. Highly recommend. The Chief at the restaurant event commented on the cake saying it was the best he has seen. Highly recommened to buy your cakes here!!

Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to find GF bread AND buns on the menu. The coffee was good & hot, just right, and not the usual tepid Melbourne offering (oh so scared an adult might burn their mouth on a hot drink). We sampled the Big Breakfast and Smashed Avocado, Fetta @ a Poached Egg on toast. Both were good sized helpings and very well prepared. There’s plenty of space around the tables so it’s not crowded for seating. The staff were very friendly.

I like to say that because of poor packaging and labelling, I picked up the wrong package of biscuits as I needed gluten free. Return within a hour without opening the packet, but the said they could not swap them over because their packaging method was so slack. In addition the servic at the shop was slow as you had to wait for them to make coffees to buy an item which did not help with the pick up the wrong package. Will not return

Has really gone downhill. Picked up my regular crostoli, paid for them and whilst still in the store, noticed they appeared to have cinnamon on them. I questioned that, staff went out the back and replied that’s how they always make them. Not true. Despite not even having left the store- they refused to return the money, only exchange. Since change of management and staff, gone downhill. Such a shame.

We always have a cream sponge for our celebrations and every time they have been perfect. It has never been a problem to customise the cakes and the staff are always friendly and give good advice.

I have been going to Pelligra Cakes for years. I even had my wedding cake by them back when it was Greensborough Cake and Patisserie. Best cake shop hands down absolutely delicious.

A great range of specialty cakes available for special occasions from afternoon teas to Birthday to weddings. A busy shop so it is rather noisy when eating in. Pastries and Italian biscuits are their speciality. A nice cafe to have a good cappuccino and a lovely custard filled cake. Also available are house made quiches, pies and pasties. Reasonably priced and delicious. I really like the ample storage so that all products can be refrigerated behind glass doors/windows and kept at the correct temperature and safe from people touching products or coughing and sneezing.

Pelligra Cakes cafe in the Main Street of Greensborough is a gem. It has recently been renovated and has a rustic comfortable new seating area installed as well as tables for two along the wall opposite the counter. The array of cakes is mouthwatering, the lunch options and the coffee all add to being our favourite place for lunch or just cake and coffee. The staff are very friendly and courteous. I have ordered beautiful birthday cakes made by owner Sam and staff over the many years they have been in business and they are spectacular.
