My husband and I ate here twice 2 years ago on our last visit to Australia. We had really enjoyed the atmosphere, service and especially the food. So, when we were back in the area, we decided to treat ourselves again. The atmosphere was still good. However, the food was just okay. The service wasn't great either, but they were very busy. For the price we paid, we were quite disappointed as we felt that we could have cooked ourselves something much tastier for a fraction of the price. As they were busy, we assume that it is still a good restaurant. Maybe the chef was just having an off night or something. When my husband paid for our meals, the woman who took our money asked him how everything was. He told her that we were a little disappointed. She just said "oh", so he didn't elaborate on why we were disappointed as she didn't seem interested. Bummer...

We booked for a late (1:15pm) Wednesday lunch during school holidays. The restaurant was very full with 3x minivans of senior citizens just finishing their coffees & desserts. Despite the amount of people, the staff were prompt taking our drinks and food order. My pan fried Red Emperor, chips & salad was delicious, with the fish cooked well. My teenage son's steak sandwich was a good size to satisfy his hunger and my husband's pasta was loaded with well cooked prawns and crab. Be careful if you ask for the chilli to be at a "hot" level, as despite a year spent in Thailand eating local food, the degree of spice was at a Thai level of spice, not an Australian level of "hot" - but it was still delicious. Large meals and professional service, we recommend Embers for good food at a reasonable price.

On a Saturday night, with one table of 16 people and a comprehensive menu, I had my doubts. But they were all dispelled. A long menu of disparate dishes normally indicates a TTH (Trying Too Hard) approach. I'm also wary of places that are said to provide big/generous serves. Here, it all worked. We chose numerous dishes, and they nearly all succeeded. My Marinara had a quality reduced sauce more flavoursome than most I’ve tried. The squid easily passed the test of requisite tenderness. Not sure how they managed that. And it was so generous with the seafood: lovely fish cooked just right, mussels, juicy prawns, etc. Too often a Marinara is a rip-off where you try to find seafood buried under copious pasta. Others were delighted with beef cheeks, Granchio (linguini in a sauce with a bit of heat, crab & prawns etc), really well-cooked fish, etc. The service was friendly and attentive. Big bonus points for their ability to bring out all 16 mains at our table at roughly the same time. I’ve never seen that kind of efficiency with a giant order before. And the prices were so reasonable! It’s as good as the reviews say - pay a visit.

We are all looking forward to going back to Embers. The service was excellent as was the atmosphere. We (all five of us) chose a different grande pizza and after we had stuffed ourselves, we were given takeaway boxes to take the leftovers home. Yum!

We were absolutely shocked at how busy this restaurant was for a midweek night. Lucky we booked well in advance. We were greeted at the door and sat at our table. This place runs like clockwork and you can tell wait staff have been very well trained and are extremely attentive. The problem we had was choosing our meal from the huge menu. Everything looked delicious from the huge selection of wood fired pizzas which looked yummy coming out of the kitchen to other tables, to the authentic pasta dishes, seafood, beef and poultry. In the end I was tossing up between about 9 different meals I wanted to try them all and went for the safe choice of the crispy skinned salmon. It was exquisite. Do yourself a favour and visit this great restaurant. Only thing you will need to do, is come back every week to work your way through the menu. Great food cooked well. Great service even when busy.

Went here for lunch on a Thursday and was glad we booked. The place was very busy. I assumed that it meant we would have to wait... I was wrong. Our meal came quickly, much to our surprise. The staff were very pleasant and quick. They took our order and were all smiles and very friendly. We started with an excellent bruscetta with feta to share and our mains were a Duck a'l'orange and a warm beef salad. The meals were amazing and the flavours were perfect. The sizes were great too with both meals leaving you wanting for nothing. I am a big eater and se could have left it there and be satisfied, but I saw a chocolate mousse on the menu and wanted to try that, so we shared one and it was divine. Masserated strawberries were served on top and it was amazing. I forgot to take photos, but do yourself a favour and go out of your way to try Embers. The whole lot cost about 120AUD, which considering I didn't need to eat dinner afterwards due to the generous portions was extremely reasonable given the quality of food and service. Highly recommended!

This was the first visit to Embers as part of a party of 17, so quite a test on two accounts given the size of the party. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient, in fact remarkably so given the packed restaurant. This was a Sunday lunchtime and the menu was impressively extensive given the apparent size of the kitchen. Amazing then that all 17 main courses came out together and within 20 minutes. Bruchetta was ordered as a starter to be shared along the table. This dish was of generous proportions, noticeably packed with garlic and loaded with delicious cherry tomatoes and crumbled feta cheese. The main course portions were also extremely generous. My partner chose the Chicken Parmigiana and declared it to be extremely tasty and very filling. The fries were perfectly cooked and appeared to be hand-cut? The accompanying mixed salad was very fresh and tasty. I chose Mild Paella (large). A word of warning here, that if like myself, you do not deal overly well with highly spiced foods, mild is well and truly spicy enough. The dish was beautifully tasty with a generous serve of mussels, prawns, calamari, chicken and chorizo I would however say that just one wedge of lemon for a large portion of paella is probably not enough as lemon juice should be integral to this dish. All dishes came to the table hot which, again given the size of the party, was quite an achievement. So why only 4 stars? Basically the lack of adequate toilet facilities. Whilst spotlessly clean and serviced regularly, 3 unisex cubicles and one disabled facility for a restaurant which, at capacity, must hold 100+ patrons is probably not really enough. Given the layout of the establishment, however, I don't see that this can actually be effectively addressed. Embers is definitely a 'return to' restaurant and I look forward to visiting in an evening to sample their pizza.

Disappointed as I heard such good things about this place. I ordered takeaway pizza and was happy to wait 50 mins for collection however super disappointed when my Capricciosa pizza was missing two of the key ingredients (anchovies and prosciutto) and the base was so soggy I couldn’t eat it. Makes me wonder if my order was incorrectly made.

We went for Saturday lunch after a drive through the Bickley Valley on a wet weekend. I’d searched online and came across Embers and it’s great reviews. They were all spot on. Huge menu with plenty of choices for everyone. When the food arrived, everyone’s meals were excellent- great size serves and flavours. Will definitely return

I took my partner here for a birthday meal, he ordered fillet mignon, it arrived covered in sauce. It was only a cm thick, I asked the waiter if he had been served a scotch fillet by mistake, to be told that the chef butterflies it to cook quicker as they are so busy! He ordered medium rare, so that doesn’t take long at all. I’ve never in my life heard of butterflying a fillet. I left it at that as it was his birthday and didn’t want to make a fuss. I had the duck a la orange, no taste of grand marnier, let alone orange. Very disappointed as Embers was recommended to us, we were in the area for a weekend break, so had to go on recommendations.

Last minute Friday night get together, just got a booking at 8pm on a very busy night. Seated outside on balmy Perth evening. Drinks arrived very quickly- essential on a Friday night . Dinner orders taken very quickly also . Lots of ooo’s and ahhhs , My Soy Sesame Duck Salad was sensational , the drinks waiter returned and asked if the boys wanted more beers and Boubon how often does that not happen at a restaurant? Had not been to Embers for years . We will be back . Fabulous service , great drinks and very good food. Do yourself a favour .

My wife had visited Embers with friends a few times and always given good reports. This time we went together for lunch and all I can do is re-echo my review title above and describe it as just "brilliant". A fairly unpretentious family restaurant which was full on a Wednesday lunchtime and quite noisy. But what it perhaps lacked in ambience it made up for it in spades with the food. I had the Gold Band Snapper which came with salad, chips and home made tartar sauce. It was a very large portion and absolutely delicious. Prices are reasonable and the wine list is also very good both in content and value. We shall definitely return.

Went to Embers last night – first time is four months (used to go quite regularly for 20 years) because of the poor food and smaller portions since the new owners took over about 7 months ago. Last night the food was good quality and good portions – unfortunately the new manager (been at Embers for couple weeks) let it down. My grandson wanted muscles for a main – the menu said it was an entrée – so we asked the “new” manager if we could have it as a mains – and he just refused point blank. We waited nearly fifty minutes for garlic bread (and at 6.30 pm when in the past the restaurant has been full to breaking point) Embers was just about half full – how will they manage if the restaurant gets busy. The drinks when they arrived were wrong and when the lemon, lime and bitters did arrive the barman seemed to have lost a bottle of lime in the drink – my wife could not drink it. When the muscles arrived, there was no finger bowl and no separate bowl to put the empty shells. Most of the wait staff were on L plates – but there were a couple of girls who were very very good at their jobs. I did ask to speak with the (new) manager but he preferred to ignore me and spent his time in the patisserie next door chatting. The bill was $400 for 4 people without any alcohol which I think is rather expensive for very poor-quality service and management. Under the current management and without adequate training of the staff it is doubtful if Embers will ever reach its previous level of glory.

Staff changed, order incomplete - items missing and had to chase twice to get them. Couldn’t offer all the menu. Also a poor takeaway experience :- dish had for items missing and paid full price. Seemed like it had been microwaved - pasta not properly cooked and other issues. Whilst travelling to pick up they also called to say gluten free pasta had run out but only wanted to deduct $2 for no pasta at all off the $22 item and still charged $15 for a simply pasta sauce with nothing much in it!. Also couldn’t offer all the menu as they had staff replacements. Having been a regular for years it is disappointing and will now be going to The Vault.

I wanted to give them a go even though the restaurant ownership has changed. Ordering, I discovered the items I usually get are unavailable. The menu has changed its style. The staff were patient and helped me to choose. I picked up a vegetarian pizza. The car park had plenty of space to park and my pizza was ready really fast. The pizza that I picked up had great ingredients, the pine nuts were a nice touch, but unfortunately the pizza was quite burnt which changed the flavor and enjoyment. Upon calling them to provide feedback I was offered a partial credit of the cost towards my next visit. Hopefully they can turn the quality around if we all provide honest feedback.
