Staff were really friendly and service was pretty quick. Food was disappointing, we both had potato skins which were ok. My partner had the yorkshire pud filled with mince, he said it tasted like it had been frozen and reheated as it was so stale - not at all fresh. I had a pasta dish which was so rich and... More

This is the second time I have been to this place in a month and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was just as good second time around. Access/approach from Chester Le Street is easier to negotiate than crossing the carriageway from Durham (especially for those of a nervous driving disposition. Once inside though it is very clean... I visited today with my mum and grand father having been on a number of occasions in the past. We arrived for an early lunch and parking was much easier than later on. We were greeted by Ashley who was very pleasant and was our server throughout. The drinks came very quickly and the food when it came was excellent.... More

Beware! Food here may cause heart attack ! It is so unhealthy that is unedible. My husband and I visited on the first bank holiday Monday in May. As starter we ordered the mussels with wine sauce. I would call this dish cream with few overcooked mussels. The only think you could taste was cream. Mussels were way too overcooked... More

I haven't been in here in years so looking for some proper pub grub and evening was drawing in so stopped off on a whim. All newly decorated which looked lovely! It had a nice airy feel but would look really cozy on a night time. I was impressed The food- I went for pub grub and they didn't disappoint!... More

Staff so friendly and welcoming. Fantastic waitress who was great with kids. Unfortunately the food was pretty bad. My husbands meal was burnt and the children's food was really poor quality. Smart price style sausages etc. First time we have eaten there so perhaps we had a bad experience.

Have not visited for many years, we did our courting here thirty years ago when just a pub. Called in when spotted driving past. Could not believe the transformation, bright, comfortable and well decorated. The service from the start was excellent by the two young lady servers. Drinks delivered quickly and the food was first class. Garlic mushrooms and main... More
