Charming atmosphere, but totally agree with Manzetti, the fondue is too liquid with too much alcohol, and 8 to 10 francs more than one would pay elesewhere. Otherwise the wine, dried meats plate and service were all good.

Since the Chalet de Gruyere was rated number 1 at TripAdvisor we were expecting a better fondue. The one served was very liquid and with too much wine. So far the best fondue is the one at Le Gruyerien in GENEVA !!!

Amazing food amazing ambiance best service. Is the unique place to have Fondue or Raclete or both. Highly recommended to book in advance and not forget the great deserts.

A very charming place for Fondue set in an authentic chalet. We've been back 6 times already. Gets busy so I suggest making a reservation. Stay on the upper-level which is nicer. Service is usually a bit rough on the edges. You need to be...More

This cute restaurant has one of the best fondue in Swiss. It has a nice balance of cheese and the wine! Cannot stop after the first bite. Dangerous! Another must-try is the ice-cream. It's so divine and lovely. Recommend for sure if you visit Gruyeres!

We stopped here for lunch before noon and were glad we did. Many people were turned away after the noon hour. We enjoyed a delightful Swiss lunch of cheese quiche and salad. The restaurant also featured many classic Swiss dishes and dessert treats.

We were only in Gruyere 3 nights but ate here twice. The restaurant itself is a true Swiss chalet so is an experience in itself. The staff, and the food were excellent. Highly recommend it.

We always ate fondue in Switzerland, especially in regions known for cheese. We were sadly disappointed here. Service is great, but the cheese had no flavor. How is this possible in the cheese capital of Switzerland?

Best fondue of my Switzerland trip, me and my wife split a portion and it was more than enough. Served with gherkins, potatoes, bread and picked onions.

Depends on time of year of your visit, if you want to lodge at the chalet and want to go during the winter months, I would suggest at least 4 months prior; if for just lunch/dinner, a day ahead.

Welcome to the Chalet de Gruyères L'è avui le lathi de la Grevîre k'on fâ lè mèyà fremâdzo! or welcome to the Chalet de Gruyere, says the shepherd from Gruyere with a glow in his eye. He is proud of his origins, just as he is proud of the recipes he inherited from his father: that of the Gruyere cheese and the Fribourg Vacherin - two wonderful cheeses from the region whose reputation have gone way past our borders for decades. Every summer, the shepherds and their flocks go up to the high pastures of Gruyere for several months. The rough and tasty grass, mixed with the Alpine flora, gives the milk its particular flavor. In the evenings at the chalet, after they have milked the cows, the men with sun weather-beaten faces already know which flavors will prevail from the many hectares of wild flower meadows.
