This gem, the oldest pub in Germany, was once reportedly frequented by the King of Rock and Roll himself. The ambiance of this over 400 year old building alone is worth a stop but the locally brewed beer (Faust) combined with a good meal elevate this place to the "must see" category. Favored by locals and tourists alike; it is... More

A 425 year old traditional guesthouse that serves authentic German food. We tried the Bavarian beer, bratwurst, and sauerkraut with potato puree. They were very good and not pricey. We were disappointed that we didn't get to try the wiener schnitzel because they don't serve it until 7:00pm. What a pity!!

We had beer and dinner at this charming old restaurant. We did not have reservations (make them if you go) but the host was able to fit us in. We shared a table with another couple and had a good time and very good food,

Took a train ride from Frankfurt to Miltenberg, an adorable well preserved town in Bavaria. After strolling around the beautiful town we stopped at Gasthaus Zum Riesen for a delicious lunch. The guys had beer with their lunch, too! The Schnitzel was very good, my husband had sausage with kraut & gravy, excellent! Our friends had potato soup & pasta... More

We visited Miltenberg on a hot and sunny day, as part of a river cruise, and this allegedly oldest pub in Germany (Elvis stayed here too during his army days! - allegedly) was recommended by our guide. After an interesting and informative walking tour of this pretty town we used our free time to try the Zum Riesen. Whilst our... More

We enjoyed two consecutive lunches (rumpsteak, fries, and herb butter) in the Riesen and both times they were very yummy. The staff were friendly and quick. The alcohol free beer (wheat beer) was very yummy, also. Every time we are in the area of Miltenberg, a visit to the Riesen is a must :-)

Supposedly the oldest pub. Very beautifully decorated . Did not have a chance to have a beer or a meal there. May be next time.
