If you are looking for excellent wines and delicious food in beautiful surroundings, look no further!. We were greeted by Julie , the owner, very warmly. You can choose to have a tasting of white, red or a mix for $12. We booked for lunch , the pies are delicious , homemade by Helen, we had the chicken & leek and the beef in red wine. There are also specials of curry and cheese/ meat boards, kids are also catered for. It was a welcome retreat from the cooler weather, with a fire keeping the space cozy and the winter sun streaming in from the large glazed doors. A lazy summer afternoon would also be great here, with a lovely paved area with large umbrellas to keep cool under also available . If you're in KI ,pop this one on your to do list ,you won't be disappointed. Because of restricted numbers, best to book in advance.

The photos don't do this location justice. Settled in the middle of picturesque grapevines the team here have thought of everything. Seating inside and out, they even provide picnic blankets to sit on the lawn. I take my hat off to who ever designed the gorgeous cellar door and deck area, as the use of rustic recycled and new materials adds to the ambience of the location. The grazing platters were generously loaded with local produce and complemented the wine tasting perfectly. Thankyou for an enjoyable visit

Found along a 10 k unsealed road, this place is in a great in-land setting. Beautiful decking area with small young children’s play area. Nice wine tasting selection. However they stop serving their snacks and platters at 3.30 pm - a long drive if you want a wine and platter at 3.31 pm .

We had a new visitor to KI for the day and wanted to impress, so False Cape was on the top of our agenda. The view of the vineyard, the delicious food, the warm friendly staff, and the most delicious crisp wine impressed our guest so much she took her family back the very next day. Top marks False Cape!

We made an on the spur of the moment decision to visit as it was a cold and windy December day! About 15 mins or so from Pennyshaw and on a dirt but good road this is a lovely spot for a tasting. Lovely vineyard views in a modern tasting room come casual bistro. We chose the red wine tasting flight to share as I was driving. Reasonably priced and a good way to sample the wines. We had a very friendly knowledgeable cellar staff person to talk is through the wines and the winemaking approach. We had a thoroughly enjoyable hour or so there

We visited over the busy Easter period, and enjoyed a delicious cheese platter, with a tasting paddle of wines. The wines were really beautiful, my favourites being the Rose, Sav Bland and the pinot (just a few!) Special mention for the cheese platter, as it was so good!!! Friendly service, and beautiful atmosphere to enjoy a tasting. Go and visit!!

It is worth a visit to the winery as they have build a lovely building with great gardens and a good view of the winery. They offer 4 samples of wine for $12 or you can buy wine by the glass or a bottle as well with a $8 corkage fee. Really enjoyed their red wines

We were warmly greeted by the owner who immediately gave the kids bread she had been saving for someone to feed the sheep and geese! Kids were thrilled with the animals, play equipment and open lawn with soccer ball thrown in. Adults could relax on the deck with a wine flight. What more could you ask for? Delicious wines. They also serve lunch with a good menu for both adults and kids. A special place.

This is a must do. The staff were very friendly and helpful and no pressure to buy. We sat outside on the beautiful deck which has an outside fire place overlooking the winery/gardens which also has a children’s play area. Room inside also to sit which has a fireplace also. We ordered a wine sample plate and a cheese food platter which was beautifully presented and had the most lovely and tasty assortment of meats, cheese, bread, etc. Do yourself a favour and visit this beautiful winery. Can highly recommend False Cape.

We enjoyed wine tastings with the friendly service of the owners. A beautiful tasting platter of food was served with the wines. No questions went unanswered about how the wines were produced and the history of the winery and when it was established. A delightful afternoon on a glorious day.

We stopped in at False Cape Wines today with family and friends on the last day of our KI trip and immediately loved the location. Situated off the beaten track with an enclosed outdoor area with a big cubby house which the kids loved. Unfortunately that’s where the good vibes ended because in terms of value for money it was seriously lacking..... $5 for a single taste (1 pour) or $12 for a flight of either 4 whites or 3 reds, plus there is an $8 corkage fee charged on bottle purchases which are drank at the cellar door which I feel is a bit cheeky. It’s certainly on the expensive side and not redeemable on a bottle purchase, plus not really to my taste. We didn’t stay for the food as we had a lunch booking elsewhere but the menu looked pretty good with lots of options. Still worth a visit on a trip to the island

I’m sorry if you misunderstood our wine tasting, the $5 includes a taste of all 7 of our wines and is redeemable on purchase of a bottle to take away. The wine flight you get equivalent to a glass of wine combined with tasting notes to enjoy at a table to look over our beautiful surrounds. We keep our wine prices at a very reasonable rate to buy and the corkage is to dine in and enjoy our wonderful surrounds which you obviously did.

We really enjoyed our 2 hour stop on a Monday. Sampled a variety of white & red wines along with a delightful cheese platter superbly presented. The wines were of good quality and quite distinctive which offered lots of appeal. Dale was a great host and was informative on all things KI. Even on a damp, wet, cold day it was a great stop. On a sunny warm day it would be superb outside.

Stopped in the afternoon and were welcomed by a very pleasant hostess. French winemaker we are told ,who spends half his time in France and half in Kangaroo Island. Opted for the 3 Red and 3 White tasting paddles(($10 each) and it was no problem to change the Chardonnay to Sauvignon Blanc. I surprised my partner by ordering the chicken rillettes(($18) with plain crackers to accompany the wines and this was a good decision. Enjoyed all 3 whites Pinot Gris ,Sav.Blanc and, Riesling being the standout. The reds were Ok but the best was the Sangiovese which was surprising. The rillettes went so well with the wines. On leaving we noticed a big turkey out in the semi high grass. Cheekily I asked how much to buy it. The hostess said NO it has 12 young, which it did and only a few days old. Very cute. Nice way to spend your time and money!!!
