Awful experience, they claimed we messed up our booking and sat us at the bar where we where promptly ignored for 15 mins, after ordering food we got spring rolls which where of a poor quality and prawn and pork wontons, also of average quality...and cardboard tasting. Our mains did not arrive and we left after another 30 mins when it was clear they messed up half of our dinner order asking us if we ordered the missing mains as 'takeaway'. Night Ruined.... incompetent and rude servers all over the place.More

We booked for 8p on Sunday dinner. We were told that because its more than 6p, we need to opt for the banquet menu. We went with the $69 Hawkers Feast banquet. For a total cost of $552 for food, i am really disappointed with...the dishes served. I dont recall any seafood or any dishes of value. None of the dishes stand out at all. CKT was a total failure to me, also too salty and prawns are deep fried. Nasi Goreng is also disappointing. Other dishes, nothing to get excited about. We ordered Lychee Crush, and it is hard or impossible to use the straw to drink this drink! Service was very good and attentive. I am not sure why we have to order banquet, as we are not in a hurry to get the food as its a social gathering for us. There is no excuse of the kitchen not able to cope with large booking. Besides, its a Sunday booking and we have to pay for Sunday surcharge.More

Never have I been to a restaurant that was so inclusive for my dietary restrictions. My needs were catered for, the waitress was FANTASTIC and never once was I made to feel like an inconvenience. 10/10 food, service and atmosphere xx

Quite undecided on this one. Whilst we were not there for yum cha, the dumplings were on the smallish side. The char kway tow was flavoursome but the ingredients, apart from the rice noodles, were on the scarce side. Slow service, the recorded music unnecessary...and loud and the prices on the high side.More

Great location. From the moment we walked through the door we had a great experience. Taken directly to table. Offered a drink. Great knowledge of menu for a person in the group with a food intolerance. Food was prompt and delicious. Highly recommend.

We had heard great things about this place and we decided to try it. The first thing when we went in was the loud live DJ music - so loud that we couldn’t even talk across our table - music not needed at all and...would put me off returning for lunch. Maybe leave the DJ to the evenings. The service was average - waited ages to order and when we did we kept getting the wrong dishes brought to our table. Having said that out of 7 dishes 4 were nice and the drinks were good and cold.More

Wanted to take our adult children to a place in Melbourne they hadn't been to. Chose this based on the positive reviews. We were not dissappointed. We went for the $69 buffet and food was varied and plenty of it. We were in a booth,...bit noisy for us but definitely had a vibe. We had a really great night.More

Although we had not reserved a table and the place was already fully booked, we were able to sit at the bar, which suited us perfectly. The name “Hawker Hall” is also the best description of the place. It’s a huge hall with high ceilings,...packed with tables and people. Just like a bustling Singaporean or Malay Hawker centre. We ordered: Prawn & Chive Dumpling with Chilli Sauce Coconut Beef Rendang Salt & Pepper Squid Roti Morning Glory, Chilli & Dried Shrimp (Kangkung belacan) Every dish was nothing short of ‘perfecto’. I’m reminded every time I return how much I love this place!More

“Let’s eat here at 20:30 and the 5 of us will have our final meal for 2022” - my genius friend who hosted our Melbourne visit “Oooh we should bring Flex Mami conversation starter cards “ - my other genius friend. For a restaurant carrying...on the famous Chin Chin legacy AND on NYE, one thing that stood out to me was the speed at which the food was served. The restaurant also had a DJ, which added a cool atmosphere to the dining experience. However, the music was a bit too loud for my taste and made it difficult to have a decent conversation with my bros (I’m not even old). Despite this, I would still highly recommend this high-end Asian restaurant for the quality of the food alone. Definitely go for the banquet. And don’t be haughty if the waitress asks you to type. Inflation isn’t that bad and it is a hall of “hawkers” after all!More

The food is based on Asian street food and is cheap by nature. The meal portions are ridiculously small and expensive, for example I ordered dumplings and I got three for $21.50. To be fair when I looked back at the menu it does say..."Dumpling" so perhaps my expectation of a more generous serving was naive. During the height of the pandemic we saw the owner Chris Lucas constantly asking for restrictions to be lifted, but now they have been lifted and we try to return, these prices and serving size create a restriction in themselves. This used to be popular go to restaurant for us. From here on it will be a little more empty because that's the last time we are going. $75 for a light meal and two beers with my daughter followed by a hovering waitress with the POS to see if you were going to push the tip button.More

Walked into this restaurant without a booking. Seated quickly. Ordered off the menu and food arrived within 10 minutes. Food was good but you can get the same at your local. What was really disappointing was the music. It was so loud to the point...we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. Myself and my two friends almost to stand to hear each other. A waitress came over and informed us our voices were too loud and we had to keep it down. This was a restaurant she said, not a nightclub, which is hilarious because of the volume of the music and everyone around us talking at the same level. We ate paid and left. As we were walking out. She had the audacity to ask a co worker within ear shot of us if we’d paid. Completely unacceptable and rude. Won’t be back again.More

Came here for lunch when this place opened about 6 -7 years ago and had a wonderful lunch, thought we would return for my wife's birthday As detailed in the "Nightclub or Restaurant" review. Noise at an average of 101 dB at the table for...a 7 o'clock dinner sitting - raised the issue with the staff but was fobbed off. Food was average on the whole for the banquet - hit and miss - far too salty in some dishes and short orders on the banquet.More

Hawker Hall is consistently great. The banquet menu is good value for money - the lowest priced banquet ($55 / head) still left us with full bellies. Good variety of Asian hawker-style dishes. The warehouse-styled restaurant has a great atmosphere with attentive and friendly staff....I have been a few times and will definitely dine again.More

While the food was alright... are they trying to be a nightclub or a restaurant? This was at 6pm not 9pm if they are trying to be a bar?? A DJ playing music so loud i couldnt hold a conversation with my partner across the...tiny table for two! We didnt stay and order even a second drink it was so unpleasant. The manager said he'd turn it down and i think he did but it did not make much difference. They also took two amazing dishes we remembered them for... the cauliflower and the perata ... why take such popular dishes off a menu? We wont be back if it stays like this.More

The menu takes too many liberties with the traditional and not in a good way. The food was bland, flavourless and boring. Entrees came at the same time as mains. Had the 5 spice squid - was like strips of deep fried cardboard. Sambal was...green and had the same characteristics as eating raw kale. Chat Siu buns were cold in the middle and horrid. Pricing is a gouge considering the quality of the food. Staff were pushy and trying to remove plates that weren’t finished yet, and kept reminding us of the turn over time on our table. Given that the toilet is unisex and has learn Chinese lessons playing as the ambient music, I would dare say this is a great example of hipsters gone too far.More

Yes, but their takeaway menu is limited and they cannot hear you ordering over the phone . Better to do Uber Eats through them.
