Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I ordered prawn and beefs tacos, my friend order beef quesadillas and we ordered a portion of chips to share. My order and the chips came promptly but my friend’s order never came. 15 mins passed and we eventually asked staff to check where our...order was. Manager eventually came with the order 30 mins later and asked us if we would like anything else. We asked for another order of chips and she said she would sort it for us. The chips never came and when we asked the waitress 15 mins later, she informed us there was no order made. Was very disappointed with the service and won’t be returning.More

Our food was excellent. Not just fresh and healthy, but also some kind of sauce to make it all delicious. (We both had a Mex-Bin-Bap). The waitress was particularly good. A lovely dry sense of humour and made us feel really comfortable. She helped us...out and was understanding when we knocked over the cutlery at our table with a huge crash. Also was more than happy to take our order when I didn’t want to use the QR Code. (They ask for your mobile number for ‘verification’, and I wasn’t prepared to provide that). I’m looking forward to returning to try more things.More

Daughter took us to her favorite Mexican eatery. It was a fun tasty night out - Beef brisket burrito was super delicious, wife enjoyed her Fish Mex Bim Bap which looked amazing with an array of colours. Great cocktails - Blueberry Bramble is a winner...if you like gin/slightly sweet. Will be backMore

Thank God that we still take risks of ordering from the most unusual places even after some bad experiences or how would we come.across this gem? Were completely smitten by their slow cooked beef burrito. And their Chicken Quesadilla weren't bad top. Loved the smoky,...herbed chipotle chips too... Definitely among our favorites.More

The staff here are really amazing!! I came here for a date and the tables were full so we sat at the bar drinking cocktails until our table was ready. Unfortunately someone forgot to tell us our table was ready so it took quite a...while but eventually we got a table and the food was delicious. The frozen cocktails are a little too good haha. Can’t wait to come back and see what the rooftop bar looks like.More

We came to this Mexican restaurant for a quick lunch. We had the chips with Alioli dip to share I had the nachos loaded with chicken which was a very big portion basically a meal in itself and my partner had a chicken taco. Food...was very nice and came quickly.More

We love the Fonda in Melbourne and had hoped that this location would be equally as good - sadly not the case. The front of house staff were friendly and I was happy to pay the public holiday surcharge. However, the food was woefully slow,...half of which arrived after our other meals were finished. The tacos and burritos were also sadly undercooked and doughy. It felt all a bit hopeless.More

I have given this restaurant many chances, and every time I leave disappointed. Last night I went with a friend and we spied the Fonda salad on the menu that was described as having pumpkin, beans, corn, pepitas, quinoa and all sorts of yummy things....For $13 it came out tiny, with almost all of it being rocket, minimal other ingredients and no crushed corn chips which we were looking forward to for a little crunch. I added prawns for $6 (ouch) and it came with literally 6 TINY prawns. We called the waitress over and asked if there were meant to be some crushed corn chips in it and we got a rough, 'no, why' so I explained it was listed on the menu. She begrudgingly said she'd bring over a side of corn chips (with an eye roll) as she agreed there were none inside and then NEVER brought them. We sat for over an hour waiting for these darn corn chips while she walked past looking at our table multiple times. I never leave bad reviews and I always offer restaurants the chance to fix any issues while I am still in the venue as I am in the industry myself and it's so annoying when it could be an easy in venue fix, but even after offering to fix the issue, it was not delivered. Melbourne has so many incredible Mexican restaurants like blue corn, radio Mexico, mamacita and little hop - do yourself a favour and go to one of those instead, don't spend $19 on an incredibly disappointing mostly rocket salad.More

Not a bad night if I don’t say so! Affordable prices and nicely presented restaurant and bar! Only stayed for dinner, however was not overly impressed with the beef winter warmer option. Lack of beef in the chilli con carne for the meat lovers out...there! But, my partner enjoyed the chicken enchilada style winter warmer bowl! Plenty of chicken and great seasoning! The sangria was a little too sweet for my liking. Needed more tequila ;) but great service and lovely vibe! CHEERS! NMore

took my family there for lunch and was very underwhelmed by the experience. Very pricey for what is just casual street food. Food was tasty, but didn't warrant the excessive price. There are a lot better food options in Melbourne for a lot better price.

Stumbled across this place looking for a good place for dinner, looked cool, a little funky and modern. Order the nachos to share and a burrito each. Very nice, I’ll go back for sure. Suggest you try also.

Looking forward to our date night we decided to give Fonda a go as it was always packed when we passed, what a bad idea. We were asked to go upstairs and have a drink while waiting for a table, even though there were plenty...of tables available. 10minutes later we were seated at our table and told we had to order our food and drinks at the till! No table service at this “restaurant”. We ordered nachos, a burrito and three tacos. The food came out really fast, we almost were not ready for it as our drinks hadn't even arrived yet! Our nachos were luke warm and the “cheese” was more like cheese sauce. The burrito was cold and tasteless, more like a cold salad wrap. The “market fresh fish” in the taco was a fish finger chopped up and only like warm. The meal came to $95 for the worst Mexican I have ever had. For a good Mexican meal and table service, go up the road to Jalisco, good food and service and half the price. That's where I'll be going next time anywayMore
