I like the old decor and the helpful staff. Seating is well spaced out, with inside and outside options, some under cover. I was brought water as soon as I sat down and my toasted sandwich and coffee came quickly. Just a few comments to...make there. I had the spinach and mushroom with two poached eggs, absolutely Devine, just what I needed in the morning. The atmosphere is wonderful…..Edwardian decor. Pressed ceiling with lead light. Ordered the Roast Pumpkin Salad and it was not good. The pumpkin seamed boiled and not roasted, it was sloppy with no roasted edges as you would get if you actually roasted it. The salad itself didn't work as a dish. It was like the...left overs from a Greek salad had been mixed in and the sloppy, moist pumpkin made everything claggy.More

Revisited this Chapel St icon with a friend and the food was bang on. Perfectly presented and friendly polite service. If you’ve not been in a while, the kitchen team is delivering spot on meals. This place is back on form.

The outdoor dining area under the tree has so much potential to be absolutely beautiful, and instead the café furniture and décor is tired, old, and very worn out. Seems like such a missed opportunity. I really hope the café update this area to make...it more appealing, it wouldn't cost much to get new furniture and would definitely boost business.More

Today me and my two girlfriend went to tusk for a coffee and a meal. We ordered our coffe and food and one of my friend ordered her food and 2 add on on the side. Food came and her order was missing the 2...sides and we politely ask to receive them. When the waiter left (by the way she didn't even say sorry for the error) we noticed that on her dish there was some relish that wasn't supposed to be there and her being coeliac and the dish advertised as gf she was scared to eat it.at that point we politely told the waiter that not only the sides were missing but there was the relish.the waiter again didn't apologise and left and came back with the same plate saying that was my friend that didn't read the menu correctly and treatedher like an idiot. At that point my friend grabbed the menu and show the girl working that they were actually wrong. Again no apologies, the waiter left and came back with a plate and throw it rudely on the table. Again no apologise. When we looked at the plate now the guacamole was missing. Was absolutely unacceptable. They were busy and understaffed so I went in as my friend was quiet upset at that point. I was trying to actually be nice as the girls were understaffed. I walked to the kitchen and told them that again the dish was wrong and left on the pass asking them to please this time double check everything and please bring it back to us then. At that moment an older man which I imagine to be the owner came very aggressively towards me telling me to just leave and go home if I had a problem and screaming at me and abusing me.i tried to explain what happened and he didn't even let me talk or at any time apologies for any of the issues. I followed me outside screaming and mokiing me in Italian as I am Italian in front of a full floor. He felt very powerful as I am a little girl and there was no men with us. I keep screaming at me at the table. I lost it to and I end up unfortunately screaming back at him in front of everyone as I was being so abused. I even spoke then to the staff and they explained that he has bad temper. I fell sorry for the staff to be honest. I was shaking and I was scared. As we did nothing wrong on our hand we finished our food and paid. When we were leaving I tried again to approach him politely to again try to explain ,as I am a very understanding person and I worked in hospitality for a long time I wanted to give him a chance to realise what he did wrong. But actually I got abused ones again. He didn't even wanted me to talk. Keep screaming and interrupting me. Very rude. He told me the staff is new which I can understand but still doesn't justify the no apologies or don't even bother to check as my friend was actually right , treatingher like an idiot or throwingthe plate and my friend.. And he told me that now in this new covid normal this is just the way it is and they don't want us to go back there. I am speechless and I was frightened for many hours after. Food and coffee were very good and I actually told them that is a shame that such a good place has to have such a rude people working in it. I am so shaken by this experience and as I suffer from enxiety and this is a hard moment for all of us but this aggression from this man had actually effected my mental health. I leave this review not to spit bad word about the place but to actually get the chance to clarify what happen as I wasn't even given the chance to speak and I was attacked and give this man the chance to train the staff appropriately and improve they communication as if the waiter will have apologise the first error and then make sure the food was all good and triple check before bringing it back this could be avoided completely. I worker in hospitality 15 years and here we are talking about the basic things and just be polite with people or only your customers. I still can't believe what happened and how I was treated. I hope this review will be an opportunity for the owner and staff to reflect and improve .More

Dropped in for lunch at the weekend. The food was absolutely incredible. My boyfriend and I both got the seafood pasta which was delicious. Although it was busy and mistakes happen but after waiting over an hour for our food we realised they must have...misplaced our order. Fine.. they didn’t then give us an update on how long it was going to be. When we went to pay we asked for a receipt so we could split the bill between ourselves, the waiter then said he’d under charged us and made us pay an extra $10 .. that’s right after we waited well over an hour for food. Then after giving us the receipt we realised that was not for our table. They refunded us $10 in cash but still didn’t provide a receipt so who knows whether the original payment was right. It’s a shame like I said food incredible but bc of the many mistakes we won’t be coming back.More

Not even 1 star is worth this... DO NOT F***ING COME HERE! Avoid this place at ALL costs! I attended here for my aunties 40th in the function room upstairs and the two bar tenders who had no experience what so ever had the audacity...to cut my sister, boyfriend and myself off from the bar no reasoning at all. The queer bar tender screamed in my face and pulled on my my hair while I was asking what is the reason for cutting us off and all he had to say was “I was wearing no shoes.” They’re extremely rude!!! Do not come here and waste your money. They really ruined our night and I will not recommend this place to ANYONE! Pure filth!!!!!More

One our our favourite places to come to on them warm summer nights in Melbourne on Chaple st. This has become a regular place for us coming up to 4 nights a week. The place has a great outdoor sitting area facing Chaple street with...plenty of action to entertain.. the food is great and the staff friendly to. You must pop in and try the new wood fired pizza, and great milkshakes.More

I went there with my friend on a Saturday morning. We were greeted by a waitress, and I pointed to a table and asked if it was free and she said to go ahead. We sat down and waited for fifteen minutes until another waitress...plonked a bottle of water, two glasses and menus on our table. We said we’d like to order coffee, she ignored us, and went to serve another table of people who had arrived after us. It was very disheartening to feel as if we were being actively ignored by the waitresses, and after another ten minutes of not being served, we got up and left. We both used to love Tusk, but after this experience, we probably won’t be back.More
