Ingle nook fireplace as you enter is a nice warm welcome from the wind outside. They have a lovely conservatory to the rear for dining too. Service was perhaps a little slow, but I found this reassuring as everything was made fresh and the food...was excellent. Not a vast array of beers on the bar but the selection they had was very good as it's a free house. Disabled access to the pub is either down some shallow steps or down a slope and into the road to avoid them. Access to the toilets are up a short flight of about 5 or 6 steps.More

Lovely friendly pub that serves superb food. Staff are really helpful and friendly. Called for lunch. The fish and chips were first class and I envied the wife’s steak sandwich.

We didn't know this pub existed until we chanced upon it at the end of a local walk. The staff were friendly and helpful, the ambiance was cosy, and the food and wine were excellent. The mushroom tagliatelle I had were easily as good as...anything I've had in Italy. The raspberry brownie I chose for dessert gave intense flavour hits. My wife's cheese and biscuits - like everything else artistically presented - were also great. We left feeling very happy that we had found The Swan Inn: the perfect end to a great day of walking.More

We stopped into the Swan Inn after a long walk around Goyt Valley. We had no booking for food but the staff were happy to fit us in with a sheltered table outside. The staff were welcoming, friendly and informative with menu questions. We had...a wonderful late lunch and finish to our Sunday thanks to all the team at the Swan! Many thanks!More

A welcome return to the Swan after lockdown and the flood which closed the Swan. It has been nicely refurbished, attractive new furniture and the food remains outstanding. The Josper oven gives many of the dishes a nice twist.

Lovely food as expected and the beer was good as well. Lovely sat outside watching the world go by. One word of warning, if your taller than five foot ten beware of the very low door frame when entering or leaving, especially if you have...drinks in your hands.More

Great food, lovely atmosphere and very nice staff. Would highly recommend for any occasion. A special mention to bar manager Toby, who even gave us a lift home when we were let down by our taxi firm. Please pay them a visit.

We always use the swan for a special occasion with it being so good however this visit wasn't the case, we were sat in the pub end and service was quite disappointing. Food was good except I ordered surf and turf and the fillet medallions...were ordered as rare but came closer to well done, I never said anything at the time because for 1 no one asked if our food was ok and for 2 it's never nice for the rest of the party to eat while having to wait for a meal to be re-done.More

A lovely place. Staff were welcoming and friendly and it was really busy despite it being Friday afternoon. Lovely conservatory to dine in but other diners sat outside which was also a lovely area helped by the sunny weather. Food amazing, not the cheapest place...but don’t mind paying a bit more if the food’s worth it. Couldn’t fault it at all. Pity it’s not nearer to where we live but would definitely dine here again.More

The Swan has been on my to-do list for close to 4 years. Finally, I arranged to go for Saturday lunch on what turned out to be a beautifully sunny day. On arrival, we were offered the option of outside seating, but elected to stay...with the restaurant table originally booked. This was strategically located close to the pass. Watching all the beautiful dishes emerging from the kitchen caused a slight dose of menu commitment-phobia - nobody likes to have plate-envy! For starters, 2 of us had the Scottish king scallops with cauliflower purée- the other had the grilled tiger prawns- superbly plated. For mains, one in our party had the roasted pork belly served beautifully presented with dauphinoise potatoes. I had a pang of plate-envy until my Swan Inn bouillabaisse arrived- every element cooked to perfection. Despite resolving to limit ourselves to two courses, we were seduced by the offering of the Cheshire farm ice creams- a generous scoop of stem ginger for me and white chocolate chunk for my guest- the third diner had the chocolate and raspberry brownie served with vanilla ice cream- all pronounced to be delicious. We’ll certainly be back to explore their menu a little more!More

It is advisable to book as far in advance as possible, as they are usually very busy. When booking by phone, best to call after 6 p.m. as the manager is almost always there at this time (rarely before)
