We went here on a recent visit to Avignon and were very happy with our choice. The menu has a variety of dishes and the food was excellent at a reasonable cost. There seemed to be quite a number of locals eating there which is always a good sign.
Also a nice location which always a big plus.

We had a lovely Saturday lunch at La Salamandre. All of us had the roast pork with rosti potatoes and ratatouille. The pork shoulder was perfectly cooked -- tender with a crispy skin; the rosti and ratatouille were also excellent. Recommended.

On a sunny day, a delightful little restaurant with friendly staff. The place Jean Jaurés is the magnetic dining centre of Villeneuve and this restaurant has both patio and indoor options.
My wife had fish which was very good and I had steak frites which was also good. There’s lots of choice on the Place but this restaurant holds its own place well.

We came here for lunch. The weather was scorching, so we were very thankful for the shady spot to sit in!
The service was incredibly friendly and the food was fantastic with huge portions!
Our children were delighted with their delicious enfant meals. Highly recommend!

What a lovely village! This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. A good choice. There’s outside seating in the village square. I had beef and my husband had pork which was the play de jour. both very good, washed down with a bottle of local wine. Excellent

Had a fabulous lunch there on a lovely sunny day, with great friends. The staff were excellent as was the food - king prawns and goats cheese starters followed by ravioli and veal liver, finished off with profiteroles and creme brulee - it's a beautiful and quiet town Villeneuve des Avignon, in many ways the polar opposite to its more renowned sibling... Well worth a visit

I'm a regular customer and having tried pretty much all the restaurants in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon I always end up coming back to the Salamandre.
I don't think I've every had a negative experience, the food never disappoints and the owner (Bernard) and waiter (José) are so friendly.

We happened upon the restaurant walking around the town. Tried their baby squid with chorizo in presto sauce. Perfectly done--squids were tender with surprising combination of flavors that worked very well. Their sardine toast was equally well done. Perfectly grilled with pickled vegetables that make you want more! Topped with the best French fries. And service was perfect.

We have just returned to our hotel from our second meal on successive evenings at La Salamandre - such a delightful experience that I had to write this review before falling asleep! Both meals were superb, imaginatively conceived and expertly cooked. But it is le patron who makes eating at this restaurant such a special experience. He is masterful, giving excellent advice on the food and wine (persuading us, for example, to buy a cheaper wine!) and giving excellent service with a splendid sense of humour - and the prices are amazingly reasonable. Perfect. We are looking forward to returning to Villeneuve as soon as we possibly can!

We had dinner at La Salamandre and ate outside in the square. The service was delightful and friendly throughout the evening making it even more of an enjoyable experience. The food was great and we loved the gorgeous square.

We came across this restaurant by chance on the first night of our trip. What a lucky find! Had pork belly with gnocchi, it was honestly one of the best I've had and the best dish I ate on my whole week trip. It did have a lot of fat on but I didn't care, I ate most of it because it tasted so good! It actually makes me feel sad that I may never taste it again (but perhaps this calls for a second trip). The waiter who served us was so lovely and cheery even though the place was full. The prices seemed reasonable in comparison to other restaurants. We went back for the second time and my boyfriend had the burger (which had an amazing sauce) with home made chips/fries - both of which were very tasty. Overall a great restaurant with rustic Mediterranean inspired cooking.
