Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for just one night at short notice, as our original plan changed at the last moment.
The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, with lots of outside space, and located in a beautiful tiny village. Very comfortable and relaxing and I would quite happily have stayed for a week.
There are several other restaurants nearby, and the one the hotel recommended for lunch was really nice.
We did eat in the hotel restaurant in the evening, and it was full, although the menu was very limited. Not really to my taste, but service was good and a great selection of wine.
You can walk over the bridge to Avignon in about 40 minutes. Nice on a sunny day. We intended to get a taxi back, without success, so ended up getting much more exercise than expected! And what a lovely city Avignon is!
Fully intend to return, and would choose to stay at this calm hotel, rather than in Avignon itself.

Superior in every way. We stayed at this hotel in 2012 and decided to return to Provence this year. The hotel and its surroundings are better than ever. We had #53, the same large room as last time. It's been renovated some. Excellent bathroom and overall lighting. Very comfortable bed. View over the pool is terrific. Breakfast is the usual outstanding offerings. The location, across the river from Avignon, is perfect for exploring the countryside while avoiding traffic within the city walls. We can't imagine any place better to stay in the area. We use it as the center of a wheel and travel the spokes each day: Gorges de l'Ardeche, Les Baux, Mont Ventoux, Arles, Pont du Gard, etc.

In all respects a wonderful experience. Central location to village restaurants, well appointed room, welcoming and helpful staff, amazing breakfast, large pool surrounded by well tended grounds. We’ve travelled a lot and this was a peak experience hotel. There’s a Michelin rated restaurant in hotel which e didn’t try.

After reading some of the restaurant reviews we think it may have been the chefs night off. We where only offered a set menu (75 euros) with NO CHOICE of dishes on each course & no a la carte menu alternative. Staff uniforms were tee-shirts, they just did the minimum and appeared to have no love or enthusiasm for their work. Not what we expect from a one Michelin Star restaurant. Would not go there again as extremely disappointed.

Dear Sir,
The menu proposed is a choice between starter, fish, meat, cheese and dessert in 3 different formulas. I invite you to browse the sites of our Michelin starred colleagues, you will find that many of them offer only one menu, the time of multiple menus and a la carte choices is less and less in use.
On the other hand, our Staff is not dressed in T-shirts but in quality polo shirts embroidered with the logo of our House, each service with a different color. A simple adaptation to the habits and customs of our customers who no longer wear a suit and tie for a long time.
Finally, your resentment towards our restaurant teamis not at all in relation to the comments left here or the feedback we receive through our satisfaction questionnaire.

If you have a food allergy avoid this restaurant. The food is delicious, but the wait staff, which numbered five individuals that we interacted with from the time we entered, did not communicate with kitchen staff effectively even after telling them about a severe allergy in person and on the reservation. Left after the first course due to providing a dish that included the allergen. Manager was respectful and comp’d meal and apologized for mistake.

Dear Mr. Gr***by ,
Your wife's "gluten-free" allergy was well reported to the kitchen and was highlighted during our daily pre-service briefing. Unfortunately, one of our young waitresses got the table number wrong and served amuse bouche containing gluten. For this I apologize again.
Don't hesitate to mention on your reservation that a person is celiac rather than gluten-free - the difference is important, and the warning will have all the more impact.
On the other hand, I was delighted to see that your wife was doing well in the days that followed.

Dreadful behaviour by this hotel. I made a reservation and they took my deposit (50% of the room rate) and then sent me the followring message:
Our house is dedicated to the well-being and pleasure of the table, it is what remains at the heart of our values and which has made our reputation.
Out of respect, we must inform you today of the construction of a private real estate complex in the park adjoining our beautiful House of which we are not at the origin.
As a result, your comfort may be impacted.
Our team remains mobilized in anticipation of welcoming you.
La direction
When I asked them to refund the deposit and cancel the reservation at least 5 days before the booking date they refused to return the deposit!

A great experience in a tranquil Oasis. Eating in the garden in the height of summer was glorious. The food was imaginative and of excellent quality. The wine list was good but a little on the pricey side as were pre dinner drinks but his is a five star establishment. Everything ran well and our dog was welcomed also. This was for a birthday celebration and it really didn't disappoint. Heard a lot about it and it lived up to expectations.

Lovely hotel and restaurant. From indoor decoration (and I am picky 😉) to secluded gardens, to restaurant dining experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our night at the Prieure and have been recommending to friends & family ever since we got back!

PROS: Beautifully decorated and tasty food, albeit very little quantity for a hefty price. Fancy room.
CONS: We were seated inside for dinner because it was raining that night. We were looking forward to a relaxed, romantic dinner where we could talk freely. However, it did not happen because, AT ALL TIMES, there were about 7-8 people (waiters, waitresses, manager) criss-crossing by our table. They had too many people waiting on us, one would take a drink order, another the food order, somebody else would bring the water, another poured the wine, another would bring appetizers, another the meal dishes, but when we asked a question (what is this??), we were told to wait because somebody else would come to explain. We never knew who our waiter or waitress was. What really bother us was the "businesses" of the staff, constantly walking by. Imagine trying to have a nice dinner in the middle of New York Grand Central Station at rush hour. Perhaps it was the location of our table. Also, about the wine: they brought us a tablet with the wine list. We chose a bottle. Then somebody else came to tell us the prices on that list were "carry-out" only, so the price was higher for drinking at the restaurant. So, then we chose a bottle from the revised list. Then somebody else came to tell us they had run out of that wine and offered another for a few euros more. They repeated this charade with the tables around us as well.
We saw somebody bring our wine bottle and place it on a side table. When we asked, we were told to wait because somebody else needed to pour. The next person (possibly a sommelier) poured our wine into HIS glass and tasted it, then poured our wine. At the end of the meal, when he poured our last glass, he didn't pour all the way (wine remained in the bottle). By then, we were so annoyed that we asked to have him pour all the way. Just be aware you might pay for a full bottle, but you might not drink a whole bottle. We would not come back to this pretty restaurant.

Dear « viajeraOrange_CA »
I read your long comment and I am surprised that you compare our restaurant of 14 tables to a station hall!! Indeed, the atmosphere of your dinner would have been more romantic outside under the wisteria but luckily we can not play with the weather hence our service inside.
What you describe about the service is correct, we have collaborators who are just starting out and whose main task is to bring the plates from the kitchen and others more seasoned whose function is to announce the dishes.
As for the wine list, it is very clear and I'm sorry if you stopped on the 1st of the 30 pages of our list... "TAKEAWAY". Ditto for the wine service, it is quite common for our sommeliers to taste it as well as to leave the bottom of the bottle if it contains deposit.
All this reflects a gourmet restaurant, both in terms of service and quantities served. There are many other restaurants here much more casual....
With my regrets

The garden is beautiful and the restaurant setting is great, but the food and service we were very disappointed. The food nothing special and the service slow and the place was not full. We were staying at the hotel, which was a great experience and we loved it, but the restaurant I wouldn’t be surprised if it looses the Michelin star.

We were excited to be coming to this restaurant , which had such good reviews, but were sorely disappointed and can’t understand how it got its Michelin Star. The food was alright but very expensive . We found the whole experience a bit pretentious.

The weather wasn’t good so we ate inside. Although the room looks lovely and inviting, it soon appeared to be noisy. The pre-drink was pleasant but once at the table, conversation was only possible with our next door neighbours. Can something be done about the acoustics??
Our food was tasty indeed especially the « canette » which was succulent. The desert wasn’t outstanding though, we were expecting better.
Maybe we should give it a second try before saying more.

A fantastic lunch set on the terrace adjacent to their beautiful garden where they also grow fresh vegetables. We had their Easter menu which included a San Pietro in a dill sauce and lamb, both of which were superb. The service was perfect and friendly. The wine list was excellent. I look forward to going there again
