Usual restaurant closed for hols so booked here instead, and we will return! One of the best meals we've ever had, imaginative fine dining at an accessible price. Great service, well appointed restaurant, food plentiful, imaginative, beautifully prepared and presented. Even when hungry hard to finish the 3 course menu

This is one of those places where you didn't know what to expect, but in the end couldn't help but to compliment the chef and the staff. The restaurant is on the pricey side and portions are definitely modest in size. Having said that, none of our company felt hungry in the end, because of several additional freebies that we... More

We visited Châlons-en-Champagne with no real idea of the local restaurants. We saw positive reviews of Au Carillon Gourmand and are extremely glad that we ate there. They are doing something very original in this small provincial city. Basically taking mostly local ingredients and adding flair and originality in the combination of flavours and the presentation. And the small but... More

The rating is averaging the quality of the food (4 stars) and the level of service by the staff attending the table (2 stars). The quality of the salad and of the fish that was served is very good, even if the portions are a bit on the small side. Desserts were over-complicated and not on par with the rest... More

I have rarely eaten so bad. Both my spouse and myself took a salad with lobster as a starter. It was tasteless and in two bites it was finished. The main courses were also finished very fast, apparently "gourmand" doesn't mean anymore that you get much food... Furthermore, they were tastless as well. Simply stated, it was just very bad.... I read a couple of the reviews and there were concerns about the quality of the food - not sure if they were in the same restaurant because my wife and I had lunch there today and it was awesome. The creativity of the chef is to be commended, the tastes, temperatures and textures delighted the palate. This together with... More

We had reserved for 6 people and had a very comfortable evening. Hors d'oevres were fabulous like the main course and dessert. The first dish was not so to my liking but everybody else enjoyed it. Beware of the Chocolate bomb dessert, it will detonate without prior mercy! You get far more then you pay for.

Chalons en Champagne not be mistaken for the Chalon near Macon is not famed for fine dining and in fact it was quite difficult to find anywhere at all. This was Sunday afternoon and a stop-over a few hours from Calais en-route from the Alps. The town itself is not a hive of activity and the sat-nav is probably a... More

Ate here on way back from Alps so desperate for fresh seafood and no more cheese! What a find! Excellent service, very creative and perfectly prepared food. WE had scallops and the fish of the day - both were prepared and served to a very high standard. The puddings were a photographers delight (good to eat too!). A small but... More

We booked a table for 4 for last Saturday evening. I was advised by the owner of our hotel to go there. We were more then happy with this recommendation. We took the menu of 38 euro.. Starter/main dish/cheeces or dessert. A lot of choices on the menu. As I have a high allergy to nuts, I informed them before... More
